On top of the recent 220m investment from the government to continue local production of the commodore, Go Auto can reveal that Holden have been secretly working on a commercial VE. Mike Devereaux is claimed to be the originator of the idea, believing that its a market that the Holden can tap into, increasing their already high sales.

No word on a release date yet, or if it will come out as part of the VF roll-out.

Good idea, but not the best imo considering you can just buy a canopy for the current VE ute which allows you to have the best of both worlds. They would want to have a good comparable pricing to the ute (if not cheaper) otherwise it may not sell too well

It looks like the Victorian police utes IMO saw them all over the place, and they looked to be all one piece as opposed to being a ute with a canopy

Ve wagons, sedans, some utes kicking around but more for carrying bikes etc. Then colorados with the box on the back for people getting arrested.

Actually, some of the undercover cops here also use FG Falcons, as well as the occasional Camry.

As for Holden building a panel van again, they previously had a 'Sandman' option on VU/VY/VZ utes which was nothing more than a glorified canopy. But, I can see this selling in moderate numbers, however it will be at the expense of ute sales.
