I'm developing a love for the John Cooper Works (Mini). Aren't they awfully cool things?

(Mind you, this comes suddenly after a 99% certainty of the 370Z being my next car!!)

Anyone drove/owned one of these (Mini)? I'm taking one for a test drive on Thursday.

Just make sure there is plenty of room to put your handbag on the front floor

Wouldnt want it causing an accident if it slips off your seat and spills your make up.

short answer - get the zed

If you're getting one new then it'll be okay, early R56's (2007-2009) suffered from timing chain and high pressure fuel pump issues.

I'm not a fan of them, just cause they're a bit tacky (eg. the change colour interior lights upset me) but they're not a bad car.

Big issue for me though, especially with the JCW, is torque steer. You can literally change lanes with a gearchange under boost, critics abused the VXR for it's torque steer, i reckon these are much worse!! But take one for a drive, you may not even notice it or it may not bother you, thats just my opinion!!

If it were my money on a hot hatch, id be going to Renault or VW but if you like the Mini shape then go for it!!

Definetely inform us after the drive what you think!!

mate there an AWESOME car. not too sure about a standard one but my mates dad let me drive his JCW when i was back in england. his is tuned and is an absolute weapon. i drove the JCW and my mate drove his tuned porsche boxter and the mini absolutely destroyed the porsche. i was positive it was just his shit driving so we swapped cars and did the same stretch and he beat me by a mile in the mini. next time i speak to him il ask whats been done to it exactly and let you know

370z for sure...

Gmonkey is right, I'd also wait for the 86 and make a comparison...

Very different cars the 370z and JWCS... the JWCS would be more a competitor to the Clio Sport 200

I also like the 370z, Megane 250.. but not really interested in a JWCS a little too much style over substance

Drove the JCW before. If it's a hatchback shape that you want, go for it. Torquesteer aside, this car will give those honda boys a huge STFU around the tracks. It's practically a go-kart with a shell, pocket sized fun.
