Well my laptop lid was getting shitty and scratched up, so I bought some carbon fibre sticker to cover it over.

After taking 10 weeks (no I'm not kidding) the sticker finally arrived.

Here's a before and after of the lid. Have a couple of bubbles in it due to my complete lack of patience. But I have like 6m of it so I'm not that worried about it.

It's why I hate glossy laptop lids - they get scratched so quickly. Had my old Asus for about 5.2 seconds before there was a mark on it. Current Dell has an aluminium lid and Stav's EeePC has a matt finish so they both still look brand new after 6 months.

As much as I don't buy laptops for there looks it will definitely be on the list for the next one.

Which will probably be in 6 mths or so

Mind you it wasn't bad for 18mths old

that's what mine looks like! lol

except it looks like you did the corners a lot better than mine
what was your technique to get the corners good?

applied a fair bit of pressure around the edges

then where the lid joins the front bezel ran a super sharp craft knife around the edges to trim it.

looks pretty good imo. i have some orange opel stickers i was going to put on my brakes, but i might put it on the laptop instead

yeah... so much better than having to constantly deal with fingerprints

i don't understand why technology manufacturers insist on producing glossy pieces of equipment, the only time it looks good is when you open the box...

No fiberglass structure underneath, so pretty light.

Gain 0.2% for every square inch!

Would do the same to my MacBook pro but I think it gets way too hot.

Why would the screen get hot?

It's a silver laptop so I'd want to do the whole thing. It's also metal so it gets really hot.

oh yer i understand the keyboard and base area getting hot.

no harm in just doing the lid and screen bezel though

dont think it'd work too well on the macbooks... plus they're an aluminium case which looks pretty sweet anyway (not biased or anything)

the curves are actually the best bit

they are only subtle curves

the bubbles in the middle stand out though

should of spent more than 5 minutes doing it

I'll tell you who not to buy it from!

tbh though I think it was held up in customs. the packaging was all opened and had been re-sealed in an aus post satchel

I bought from this seller :http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3D-Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl-Wrap-Sheet-Film-Car-Roof-Mirror-/110760720391?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c9da7807
Took about 2 weeks

Customs were on strike and hadn't been x-raying for a few weeks, which means any shipments needing x-ray were in a pile not being released. Probably why it took so long.

Looks good though! (except for the pants shot, noone needs to see that :p)
