it will still be valid. Although once you change your address it may raise the cost and might be cheaper with another company for the exact same cover.

What guy said

I was with NRMA once and when I moved to Vic the premium went up 450 bucks, when I changed to RACV it dropped 400.

I think that the insurance is based on the state that your car is registered.

Having said that you're suppose apply for rego in the new states within 3 months or so of moving there.

i thought u were allowed to run ur rego down till expiry then renew in new state? 3months is about what i got left anyway

"For up to three months after arriving, you can drive in Victoria if you have a current interstate or New Zealand (NZ) licence/ learner permit, even if you are under 18 years of age.

After three months you must change your licence to a Victorian driver licence."

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/NewToVictoria/InterstateVehicleRegistration.htm

You must also change your vehicle's rego details at the same time as your licence.

Well if it's 3 months, that works out well for you.

to be honest, I'd change it when it needs to be renewed as it's a hassle to cancel and get a refund.

Having said that, if I was from NSW, I'll change straight away as insurance is alot cheaper interstate.
