View Full Version : Dark Headlights on a White Car?

Whats your personal opinion? Do you think dark headlights look good on a white car or do they just stand out and look stupid?

I've got stock standard headlights installed atm and I've been looking around at different headlights to get. I was originally just going to get some chrome angel eyes as I've got chrome taillights. But I've seen some awesome looking dark "smoked" headlights that look great on black and silver cars, but I'm not so sure about white....

If they look good, I was thinking about putting dark lights on the back too.

So what do you think?

they can look good, look at astra AH's prefacelift (dark headlights) compared to post facelift (light headlights)

Cheers for the advice guys. I've seen a lot of smoked rear lights from Europe which I really like. Are they legal in Oz?

just need to have a red reflector on the back of the car if they don't have them built in.

just need to have a red reflector on the back of the car if they don't have them built in.
So something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-MK4-G-SMOKED-BLACK-MIRROR-REAR-LIGHTS-/180676857311?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a112e0ddf
or this:

Would be illegal without some red reflector somewhere on the back of the car (and I wouldn't know where to put it without making the car look like a crash test car haha)...

And these would be fine:

1 & 2 do have reflectors built in but you may get done for them not passing enough light (both reflector and bulb). A memeber in qld has a pair and following him on a cruise i have to say it wasn't very easy seeing the brakelights on them.

3 is legal
4 seems to be cdx/sri-t standard (maybe a bit darker) but legal.

Cheers for the info. I just dont want to spend the cash to then have to pay fines because they are too dark. haha

So these would be legal because it has the red strip down the bottom.

But I really like these...

I emailed them and asked if you could see the bulbs when the lights are off (like in the photo) and they said its very dark but yes you can still see the bulbs. I wonder if I can get away with them?

1) again light emitted by the bulbs may get you in trouble.
2nd set will just need you to add some reflectors on the back of the car. If you look at the astra H they don't have reflectors in the tail lights but have them on the rear bar.

I just google imaged and I saw where the reflectors are, they look fine on the Astra H but not so sure how they would look on a G.

Dark headlights or least some darkened internal features or lenses are an improvement on any car colour/type...

But it is still a personal taste thing, so go with whichever you prefer ;)

Well, my grill is black and when I get my new bumper it will have black mesh so I'm thinking the black headlights would work.

Mate, Got to go dark. Adds a little contrast to the car. Look at the vestra's with clear in the CD/D compared to the CDXI? CDXI with dark just suits a whit car. Take a look at the silver vestra witht e clear rear lights thats in the forums and you'll know what I mean. I think someone stated 'horribad'

Go dark. Go dark alloys also:)
