$1000 including reg and rwc........ dunno about that.

easy enough in qld as you can just do a 6month rego and rwc's can be had for $50 up here (can probably get it free if you promote their bussiness on the car)

so many cars parked on peoples properties here with for sale signs priced under 1k.

actually looks quite interesting. Might look into it a bit further.

Steve: Would we be able to get Brotek to sponsor? zip ties and gaffa would be enough.

I'm Interested in being a part of team brotek ;)

how interested?
next year?

I may have just organised a car. (got 2 options first is a 91 toyota sera 2nd a mid 90's daewoo 1.5i)
looking through the rules we may be better off using the daewoo due to value (and we could also opelise it ;) ) although we did buy the toyota as a fully flooded car for a bottle of whiskey.

repairs needed:
Daewoo. brake pads, radiator, front hub, service (less than $200 all up)
Toyota: put it back together (interior has been stripped out and washed), go over electrical system, service (under $100)

custom paint job for both car (how ever much spray paint we need)

I'll look into it a bit more but i am keen.

Needs to do a couple of thousand kilometres, so i wouldn't suggest fitting Calibra parts to it =P

Also GSL can happily sponsor the Excel and supply some rally parts for it!!

Maybe we can have a QLD team and VIC team.....

awesome. will look into the info on it later on this month. i think we need to pay a $250 registration fee. We have until the rally itself to raise the $4k (so $2k each) minimum. Once they release all the info on their website we will see if there are any changes.

We also need to budget for ourselves for accom (will probably be tent most of the time), food and a way to get back from cairns (anyone want to pick us up? :p) etc. If its like the one this year then they give us $500 towards fuel.

So i'd say if we budget $1k max for expenses we will be right. I'll be driving the car down to melb a few weeks before.

there is the subject of auctioning off the car.
i understand if we buy a car with the 1g, but what if i am already in possesion of a shitbox

guy 27
4th July 2011, 07:51 PM
he can sell it to you for that amount then you have to speak to the event organiser and arrange a buy back. they actually give you money for the car (up to 1k) from the money you raise.

i'd say email them and find out the details to be 100% sure about it.

left over sample pots and a roller.. or 3 spray cans and some tape... then a bonnet scoop from ebay converted to be a roof scoop, then cut up some of those plastic storage box lids = mudflaps

Depends how accurate you want it.

That wouldn't address such issues as the grille, bumper and wheels being quite different - nor any difference in appearance due to different internals, e.g. suspension. That's still not paying any attention to the marked difference in performance either, which would make a "replica" painted up like that very much a sheep in wolf's clothing ;)

poita
6th July 2011, 04:10 PM
Its a shitbox rally, don't want it too accurate

So, painted plastic circles to replicate the appearance of the wheels then?

guy 27
6th July 2011, 05:14 PM
car is going to be plastered with sponsorship stickers so not going for any major paint scheme. It will have opel badges on it though. front grill one will probably just be zip tied. Brotek is one of the major sponsors.

Just letting you all know that we will be offering places in the rally within a couple of days. We have been swamped with applications so have been busily going through the codes etc and putting the numbers together. Hang in there - we will be in contact with everyone soon.

Good evening,

Firstly, thank you again for your interest and support in Shitbox Rally, we really appreciate it – it means a lot to us and the Cancer Council.

The rally became oversubscribed very quickly after opening the registration. At this stage we have taken on a little over 150 teams and if you have not already heard from us your team’s registration has not been accepted at this time. It is my aim to get everyone on the rally that wants to be a part of it, so what I am working on now is seeing how I can increase the numbers further, but I am limited to the logistics of the very small townships that we visit. I am working on this at the moment. In addition to that we always have a number of teams that drop out and over the course of the year I contact the next teams on the list to offer places to them, so this is not a final no. The bad news is that we will not be able to get everyone into the rally no matter how much I squeeze, but for those that do not get a place this year your code will be valid for 2013 and as you will have a code from this year your chances of getting a place increase massively.

So, that is the update. Your team is on the waitlist and I really hope that I will be offering a full position to you soon. If it doesn’t end up happening for 2012 I will certainly be offering you a position in future rallies.

Thanks and best regards,

heres to hoping we still get in.

guy 27
14th June 2012, 05:54 PM
The dates for the rally are the 4th – 10th May 2013 and if you don’t already know the route it is Adelaide to Fremantle via Uluru

adam_92
14th June 2012, 07:31 PM

guy 27
14th June 2012, 07:38 PM
the car would make the drive to Adelaide, should make it to freo. getting back is the issue.

Ditch the car here and fly back. Id be really surprised if it makes it from Uluru to Freo, thats a tough drive, and not a lot of Tarmac

glider
15th June 2012, 03:16 PM
hmm, whats the go if the car dies en route guy? do WE have to pay to tow it somewhere or what

guy 27
15th June 2012, 03:23 PM
Hitchin a lift with another team to the end. The organisers of the event deal with the car if it can't be revived. It's their car not ours as soon as the event begins.

guy 27
30th June 2012, 10:33 AM
Thank you for your interest and support in Shitbox Rally.

We will confirm if your position has been accepted within 2 weeks. At that point if your registration is successful we will provide you with all the necessary information for the rally and to start your fundraising campaign!

Stay calm, you don’t need to do anything... We have all of your details and will be in touch soon!

Regards,
