This will be another 2012 model featuring Opels new start/stop tech for sure.

(Would love it if they shoehorned in the Insignia BiTurbo oiler lump :p )

All the Opels will end up with it because of the EU emissions restrictions. So far its only the lower end diesels getting it, like the sri spec and one other.

Theres three variations (tuning) of the engine available, I assume the Astra will receive the same lump. 1.9 TTid

130, 160 and 180. (Same Tuning as the Saab Oilers)

"the new 5dr Astra GSi 2.0 CDTTi, it will be badged 'GSi Bi-Turbo"

NICE !!!

hmmmmmmm very interesting........

Agree...I'm also very interested in the new wave of turbo diesels for everyday use - Mazda is bringing out their 'skyactiv' range later this year which includes new transmissions as well...

Tiny or small sized turbos are essential in preventing lag and providing maximum response, so no probs there :)

Turbo petrols are heading the same way, either going to twin scroll layout or a larger number of smaller turbos for future use albeit at higher costs of the end vehicle product.

Rumour has it for eg. that the new BMW M3 will feature a 3.5ltr IL6 'triple turbo' or 2 exhaust ports driving each smaller turbo unit, going back and replacing the larger twin scroll of the current IL6 which again before that was a smaller single scroll small twin turbo set up...
