Just curious to know how many KMs your tyres have endured and how much air you put in them.

I just had to replace both front 19/225/35 (Sumitomo) tyres after not much more than 15-20K KMs MAX, which is an insanely SHORT lifespan for any tyre, IMO. The insides were basically bald.

The guy at the tyre place recommend I put in 40-42 psi, as opposed to the 30 psi which I've been doing so for years and is as per factory recommendation. He said doing so would improve performance and fuel consumption (!!!), which might explain why I've been getting a shockingly ridiculous 10.6L/100KMs!!

Over to you guys...

Depends on brands as well and how you drive.
I'm a fairly hard driver when it comes to tyres.

When I worked as a mechanic we always filled them between 34 and 36 or 40 to 42 for vans. I run my car at 36psi and my tyres havnt lasted long at all. I got toyo teos and they have done around 20,000kms and are due for renewal already. I only bought them in September iirc

If your looking purely for longevity, then higher pressure. If your looking for a compromise, around 36psi. Performance on a road tyre, maybe around 32, but not 30. Race tyres you'll get away with that. I run mine around 28 cold temp for DZ03G's. Great for track, crap for road lol.

36 psi on the dunlop sport maxx lasted just under 20.000 ks Now i'm trying the dunlop fast response tyres and have done 5000 ks on 36 psi. they still look like new !

On our 2.2, we have the original Bridgestone RE50A's still on the back after 59,000kms, and on the front, Khumo KH17's which have been on there since we bought the car with 26,000kms, still have plenty of meat on them

cant remember the profile but they are the stock 17s

i keep them at 36psi... only really check them before a long trip

I've run every car I've had since the Vectra on 40psi all round - have always got decent life out of every tyre (except the WRX but there were other issues there ;) )

Just before I traded the Passat in the tyres had 37000km on them and had about 50% left - and this was a heavy car that would lean on the tyres through corners something shocking.

When I picked up the Volvo - steering felt like shit and car was all over the place - they had delivered the car with 31 psi all round. Went up to 40 - car was heaps more stable and the steering was much better.

Continental Sport Contact 2
225/45/R17
38psi Front / 32psi Rear

Almost 40,000km, still has a lot left for another 10k or 20k

Love the Contis, 4 corners of Sport Contact 3 (R17) is around $1000, I think I will stick to them.
