I'd like to. But I want to know if the FK ones still use the electronic tilt I've got in my SRi.

I've installed these before on an E36 BMW. This was about 3 years ago when they used lightboxes to illuminate the rings.

If you're going to do them, LEDs are better.

JasonGilholme

would it be hard to get into the headlights on a corsa

ultim8DTM5
1st November 2004, 04:51 PM
Use a heat gun and a razor blade to open the glue, thats what we did with the E36. But it had quite a few years on the Barina!

Just be careful if you wanna use an oven! :bang:

JasonGilholme
1st November 2004, 04:55 PM
yeah I don't like the sound of usin an oven. A bit dodgey for my liking. might have to get some help wit this one.

I read the tutorial and he said that he only did it two thirds was because he needed to glue it in place. i don't see any reason why you couldn't do it all the way round.

would be a fun mod to try do yourself. this may be a daft question but the light housings ain't round (mine arn't anyway). would it look kinda odd with a clear ring sittin' in there? thinking about doing it in the holz

They're abt AU$700 and you can get them through European Autotech

Hhmmm I checked on FK's (http://www.fkautomotive.de/en/angeleyes/index.html) site and they're €280. ($480 ex freight on current exchange rate) I think it might be cheaper to order them direct than from any Australian source.

I spotted these online back in May - Astra, Vectra and Corsa (2005) Angel eyes - UK site http://www.potn.com/performance/cPath/2553_3744_4089.htm_4094.htm/products_id/2221008

Astra angel-eye light units also pop up on ebay a lot.

Might be something I'm gonna look into since I found condensation in my right headlamp after a visit to the carwash yesterday. :(

blackSRi
2nd November 2004, 01:39 PM
I dry out the condensation in my headlights by tucking in behind the unit one of those moisture absorber packets you hang in your cupboard - they work a treat (eg Hippo). Have you checked your bonnet-headlight clearance? - http://opelaus.com/phpBB2-3/viewtopic.php?t=2720&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=headlight+condensation

Yes..but they'll redirect you to their official distributor in here, which is European Autotech.

Good site about headlights and "Angel Eye" light ring technology on the web:
http://e46fanatics.com/features/feature.php?news_id=48

Anyone thinking of this mod (well, to existing factory lights) should perhaps also consider the effect of extra heat output from cheap light ring units (also cheap headlight bulbs).
Full headlight units would probably be a better idea.

As an alternative you could use these
http://www.elwirecheap.com/elwirebyfoot.html

very bright and minimal heat output, and you can shape them how ever you like

also known as electroluminescent wire/string or neon wire/string

I don't like them. I think they will eventully go the same way the "lexus" lights have. Every Mitsubishi lancer driving up the street will have a set. Leave lexus lights on lexus's and angel eyes on bmw's. That my opinion. Each to there own however....

If they mad a nice set of projector headlights for my Astra F (without angel eyes) i would be interested.

How 'bout these tasty lil Astra F projectors then - you could always remove the Angel eyes.

Yeah, I've seen these. Can get them with a black inner too. I just wish they didnt have the angel eye part. I think i would probably make a mess of the light if i tried to remove them. Fk Automotive (which is who makes these lights) do versions for the Corsa C and Astra G. The Astra G headlight can come with either angels eyes or not. Why not the Astra F! Dammit. :(
