Steve this is gonna be awesome!!!

Still a lot of coin for a 1 Series, but look at what you get!! Initial feedback from journos etc have been good

How much do you reckon it'll cost RRP?

Nice...

Does the engine run different turbos, internals, intercooler, etc, or is just a tuned version of the standard TTI6?

I know brakes and diffs are upgraded.

That's a good point

I don't know if it's been confirmed yet

The same/similar tune is currently already in use in the Z4 SDrive35iS, so it'll be interesting to see how it compares to that

Seeing as the 135i is 80k and the M3 is 150k, i''d say around 100-110k for the 1 M Coupe as a guess...

Yeah the engine hasn't been confirmed, but i'd say Ben was right with the Z4 35is motor, which is still the old twin turbo N54 engine, all the other twin turbo 6 cars have since been replaced with a single turbo unit!!

The Z4 SDrive 35is is 250kW, the 1 Series M Coupe is rumoured to be as high as 270kW, but again nothing confirmed as yet!!

Only 100?! i doubt that would be enough to warrant a demo model at one of the melbourne dealerships. that makes me sad.

I'm sure they will build more than the remoured 2,700 run, perhaps to guage the demand, and then build more if it's received well.

Makes no different if they build 1,000 for Australia, I can't afford $100k+ anyhow.

I love the M3 but this thing just blows the doors off it. I'd by this first now than a M3. The 135i was only 3 tenths slower than the M3. The M1 will smash it in power to weight..

Official data suggests otherwise...It's already run the Nurb and is behind the E92 M3 and quoted 0-100km/h of 4.9sec is also behind the M3...

Unfortunately, however not surprising - ie. it has to be held behind the M3 so that it dosn't upset the establishment for obvious reasons and it's also why there's no DCT option, that would clearly put it out far and away superior to the M3 !

However everyone now knows that the chassis (handling) of the 1M overwhelms the power/torque outputs, so obviously with tuning it will indeed smash any other BMW out there ATM :)

I look forward to seeing it in the metal :)

Nice...

I know brakes and diffs are upgraded.

It is exactly the same engine as fitted to the Z4 35is variant of the Z4...

It's the same twin turbos as original TT 3.0ltr IL6 N54 engine but with better cooling (IC) and tighter engine spec tolerances, and a specific ecu tune with an overboost feature selected with the typical BMW 'M' sport button...

Long story short, there's alot more that could've been done with this 1M but time and budget constraints see it as it is rather than with a bespoke engine and alot more 'M' options like all other past 'M' model Beemers...

This 1M will be produced over a 12 month production cycle only from March '11 to March '12, other current face lifted 1 series Beemers (being released early next year) will cease production before then...

New shape series 1 will be released 1st or 2nd quarter next year and there'll be a new 2 series which will climax with a new M2 model, there will be no future 1M's...this is the 1st and last of it's type...

BMW is wanting to introduce a future M1 which will take that name plate, that's why this one been named 1M and until recently was still going to be titled 135M because BMW didn't want any confusion...
