my current astra VXR aint going no where, but, our corsa VXR on the other hand will make way for one lol

this isnt the VXR model, rear is near enough, also the seats, the front end (bumper) will be different, plus the addition of side skirts, rear roof spoiler etc plus a 2.0lt sidi engine putting out near on 300bhp, mech LSD, 4 pot brakes up front and this great metalic liquid red paint job by BASF will be on the option list, its looks bloody great in the metal......

+1, said that in the original thread, as with the H's and G's too, the rear always sits too high even when lowered.

It will be two years away before they are sold here if Opel comes DU.
Gives you 18 months of solid flogging the frog car before stepping back into an Opel based car !

I do like very much but still like the current VXR.
Think the Audi would go to make way for one though :-)

God that is so nice...always been a fan of the new AJ, this range topper variant is icing on the cake...

Only hope you guys are correct in saying Opel will have product here in Aust. again...

And hopefully the production vehicle dosn't deviate away too much from the concept, alot of concepts get watered down a bit too much by the time they make production...

I emailed the pics over to Phil Harding to see what sort of interest HSV would have in it, he liked and asked about the expected prices but afraid it will be a no go for importing and sporting a HSV badge due primarily being unable to make the price competitive enough with the competition already in Aus, so I hope Opel does make a launch in Aus for you guys as this will be another fine example of a hot hatch GME build........We will be ordering once books open next summer to replace our current shopping trolley........

near production what you are seeing, wheels are concept only, same the tyres............

front bumper will be for the model down from the VXR, was going to be GSi but GTC sounds more favourable to the dealers (UK) as they felt GSi was now well used over the years........

So for the VXR the front end will be a little different (bit more aggressive with a larger bottom grill and possibly minus the fog lights, rear is near production VXR, rear roof spoiler still to come same with side skirting (they are playing around with the design as to aggressive doesnt run with the lines of the body and looked to after market stuck on, so a little more subtle.
Brembo 4 pots & 19" alloys all standard, wheels have yet to be seen, recaro seats are VXR minus the colour and writing but a red leather option is being considered running with the metalic liquid red seen on the concept which is a BASF paint and will be bring about an additional premium (approx 800 quid), rear lights will be led and front xenons........

Chassie wise, hyperstrut and rear beam matched with watts linkage with new sports flexride dampers, mech LSD & nigh on 300bhp - 2lt sidi direct injection.

will the writing on the seats be available on ay of the models as standard or as an option? or was that just a cncept thing cause i really like it

Despite the related articles which arn't believable unless it actually happens, still hoping someone or some company will bring these to Australia and hopefully in the foreseeable future not years down the track !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if they'll land in NZ ???

They seem to get just about everything else, if so maybe they can be complied and brought in like the VW Scirocco...I don't like the price tag on those but I'd seriously consider one of these, so much nicer and better IMHO than even the Scirocco...

Somehow, I get the feeling that the 'C' in 'GTC' stands for 'Concept'. If 'GSi' is felt to have been played out, 'GTE' would be my bet for it's replacement. Much more of a ring to it than 'GTC' IMHO...

no, C does not stand for Concept. GTC is a old name, they call 3 door AH Astra GTC in Europe and Asia

I didn't know that GTC was already used. I'd like to point out that GTE is a much older Vauxhall range-topper designation though :)

Beautiful looking car - saw this at the Paris show....but not up this close. Where were these pics taken? The car in Paris was locked up tight.

Speculation here in Europe is that the Calibra will be back soon, based on the 2008 Opel show car that previewed the new Insignia. Great hero cars for Opel in Australia.

I recently spent a week with a new Astra 1.7 CDTi 6 spd manual, driving around Ireland, on a mix of N routes and real backwater boreens. Such a fine car. Comfortable, compliant ride, communicative steering and the best manual shift I've ever come across in an Opel based car. Slick, light and well sprung across all gates. The engine was a gem, if a little gruff when working through the lower gears. Very quiet when cruising.

When this new generation of Opels (including the newly facelifted Corsa) arrives in Australia, I'll be front and centre in the queue.......but which one to buy?

I was invited up to the the Vxl Heritage Centre at Griffin House in Luton one evening to have a look over it (& take some pics).

The GTC was brought over for an upcoming viewing and meeting with GM/VXL management (deciding on options, colours etc)
