We're looking to buy an Astra and we have found a 2003 Manual Equipe with only 6000kms going for $17000 neg. How much was the Equipe version when it came out? and is this a sweet deal?

go have a look here for the price it was selling for when it came out and what the industry thinks they should be selling for now :)

Realistically, you could get a few thousand more for any car.

DO IT! ! !

Work 'em a bit, try for lower (maybe 16,000) but that sounds pretty good.

From memory - they were about $24,000 RRP INC ORC, but they had bugger all margin in them to discount them much.

When was it first registered?

Not quite true.

Red book is based on Insurance values, It has nothing to do with dealers or recorded prices that Stamp Duty is paid on.

The values are "Estimations" based on set percentage deprciation rates that are set by a person/body that don't buy or sell cars. There is no allowance for "Supply and Demand", which in the first lesson of any ecconomics class, you will learn how supply and demand dictate prices of everthing

When ever I valued a car, and the customer said "but red book said it is worth $4,000 more than that", I would say.....Then sell it to Red Book.

I paid $22,700 for mine, or was it $23,700?? :?

Ok i'll tell the truth, my parents paid that much for it, I paid $15,000 for it when it had 6000kms on it about two and a half years ago. :)

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I had a 2003 Equipe bought after 10,000k in 2003, cost me and the wife $21,000

Sold it a year later for $18,500 still had less than 15,000k on it
