Fukin wow!!

http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/18/apples-q4-earnings-are-out-records-set-for-revenue-earnings/

Another Apple earnings report, another winner quarter for the company. Apple says its 2010 fiscal fourth quarter results are its "highest revenue and earnings ever," with records set for Mac, iPhone and iPad sales. Some of the highlight numbers include 14.1 million iPhones sold (up 91 percent over Q4 last year), 3.89 million Macs (up 27 percent), 9.05 million iPods (down 11 percent), and 4.19 million iPads. It all added up to an all-time record for Apple of $20.34 billion in revenue for a net profit of $4.31 billion. And of course, Apple couldn't resist stoking the upcoming-event-rumor flames a little bit: "We still have a few surprises left for the remainder of this calendar year." Hit up the press release after the break. The earnings call is starting in a few minutes, we'll be liveblogging it right here!

wow - 4.31 billion - goes to show what good marketing and staggering product releases to mislead the sheep can do for you...

I wonder how much Steve got in his end of year bonus?

I don't know much about shares , But I read that the share price in 2001 hit about $100 a share - And now they are at $309.50.

How on earth do you get shares for 9.25 - Or am I missing something here?

Just checked it on google finance

Open High Low Close Volume
7.44 9.25 7.22 8.19 85,007,800

And actually in 2003 they were even cheaper at around $6 a share...would have been a good investment that's for sure!

I averaged in over late 2001 and my buy price evens out to $9.258/share.

Certainly wasn't over $100 until the iPod came out and took off. Apple was a "niche company" and at best an under performer in 2001. A little luck and some fortuitous reading I got in at a good price.

The 15% Packer bought cost him approx $250 Million...He asked for a loan but I turned him down...Sounded too much like a trip to Crown Casino.. ;)

I bought "enough" Apple shares to make it a nice little earner :)

I regret not buying Google shares 10yrs ago or Apples for that matter....however what confuses me, who the hell is going to buy their shares now at $300 a piece. High share prices are like a double-sided sword, good for your investors and bad for securing future investment.

Hedge funds..Long only funds...Super/Pension funds...Instutional Investors...High net worth individuals...

Ma and Pa Kettle investors would only buy a few here and there so they can say they have them and put their money somewhere seemingly safe...

a high share price doesnt mean its going to perform less than a share 1/10 th in value

people will buy a share no matter what the unit value if they like its fundamentals and think its a good buy

take berkshire hathaway for example. its currently trading at US$124,461 per share (not a typo, that really is one hundred and twenty four thousand dollars just for one share) and had you of held it for the last 12 months you would have made a tidy 25% profit on your initial investment
