http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=9476224

"This HSV Astra VXR would have to be one of most exciting 4 Cylinder cars HSV has ever built."

i bet they would be the same type of dealer who would tell you that its made in Australia.

Our dealers are generally hopless with all our products...not just Opels! There are good ones out there but they are hard to find

I've been going to car yards for a long time. I know a bit about the models of the major makers, and religiously read national press reviews of cars (drive.com.au, carsguide, carpoint, etc). Car sales people have FA knowledge of their product, other than the hype they're told when they go to the training sessions when a new model is released. They're sales people, not car enthusiasts. Have a look at the cars they drive - a good indicator of how much interest they have in cars.

When the Golf Wagon was announced in the press, I was in the local VW dealer a few days later. I asked a salesman when it would be coming to Australia. He looked at me like I had two heads. Funny, I was thinking the same about him.

The SV1800 was quicker over the quarter mile than the standard Astra and was 1.2 seconds faster at the 0-100kmh sprint, completing the journey in 9.0secs. All up, HSV only built 65 of the special edition Astras - 35 hatches and 30 sedans.

The Astra SV1800 was released in 1988, and were based on the Holden Astra of the time (which was based on a Nissan Pulsar N13 series). They shared the same 1.8L engine as the standard Astras, but stock released with extractors, sports exhaust and an aerodynamic sports body kit (adopted from the Walkinshaw, which is why the Sv1800 was nicknamed the Baby Walky) however, and only ~65 were made in both sedan and hatchback form.

Reminds me of the car dealer who argued with me that I couldnt drive an RX8 on my P's because it was a twin turbo... He finally backed down and agreed to listen when I bet him the value of a new car on the fact it wasnt!
