Hey Guys,

I've been the frequent abuse of vandalism for my Astra H. I'd like to think that my car doesn't stand out because of the standard wheels and the black colour of the car... but more and more I'm finding that it attacts more attention than I'd like to think.

My car has been keyed twice. I've had a eyelid stolen from my front bumper. I've also had my side mirror cover stolen last month.

and I woke yesterday to this....

...yes. I cringed when I saw it!!! :(

And it wasn't hit by a passing car if that's what you think. I was parked on the left side of the road, and the passenger mirror is what is broken. It looks as if they've kicked it in.. so hard that the metal bracket broke......
Thankfully the assembley and the mirror is still in tact, and I found my mirror cover some meters away.

Is there anyway to prevent this sort of destructive damage?
But I was thinking about car alarms with motion sensors?

Thoughts?

have you pissed anyone off lately on the road (or anywhere else for that matter) and they know where the car is parked and they are just coming back to damage it????

Honestly no.
That's what doesn't make sense. But I do part it on busy streets such as in Thornbury which is active for people walking by... I looked at the other cars parked, and mine is the only one that suffered damage.

Maybe it's too shinny?

I doubt a car alarm would help - to pick up the motion of someone say keying the car, it would have to be set so sensitive that it would probably pick up you farting in your house and would go off at that...

Can you set up some sort of CCTV where the car is parked or even one of those sensor lights that turn on - that would probably deter them more....

Arggghh... Makes me so angry to see that sort of thing (although I'm sure it angers you more)!
As said, an alarm would be hard to calibrate in a way that it doesn't drive you crazy but still detects petty vandalism... Surveillance is probably your best option. Or park elsewhere!

Sorry to hear of your troubles... :(

so sorry to c that happening to u!!

unfortunately as long as ur parked on the street, u can't stop any of this sh1et. alarms, motion sensors etc etc won't stop any form of vandalism.
the only way is to take ur car off the street, and park it in a lockup garage or something. although i get the feeling that u don't have this option where u live.
