So I watched the Ashes special last night and was impressed.
Yes alot of it was staged, but they seemed to just have fun doing it which is what was missing from the first attempt.
The guys seem much more natural and less forced than the old team (SBS).
Fingers crossed the season keeps up the pace.

Thoughts?

As for the presenters:
Shane Jacobson - funny guy, not afraid to take the piss out of himself.

Steve Pizatti - Very knowledgeable and a good driver to boot, they just need to make sure they dont keep dressing him in t-shirts as they make him look like an alien with massive ears and a long neck.

Ewen Page - New to the TV scene so seemed a bit nervous on camera, but I think he will only get better as he goes along. He has been heavily involved in a large number of car magazines in OZ (Wheels, Motor, TG Aus) so again plenty of knowledge.

I've heard good things about the new Oz Top Gear. I watched one episode of the old format, and it was just crushing. Will have to download the Ashes special.

i Have to agree, i quite enjoyed the first ep of this new team
but i think the fun factor came more from the TGUK boys.

+1, when you think of almost all the funny moments it was normally clarkson instigating them

The only spoiler is having Warney making an appearance. He's better off sending SMSs to chicks in the UK, than putting his mug to the TG franchise (yes, I dislike the wanker).

I thought the Ashes Episode wasn't too bad. Forget Shane Warne (no he cannot drive) he just drives very expensive cars.
But Sam Newman can : /
Grant Denyer would have been one of my choices in the TG team.
Will watch it again ....

There was on article on an american autoblog showing top gear aus trying to pull a haul pack (big ass mining truck) with a gmc 4wd. So yes, i assume it'll be back

Will be good to see it back, I was never a huge fan of the first 2 seasons but was quite interested in the 3rd.
