ok been a while since i posted... headlights are crap again lol... looking at some R8 style ones when funds allow...
In other news it started to rattle really bad a few weeks ago.. thought it was the aircon pump bearing... turns out it was the water pump bearing...
Close enough to 180Kkms so decided to do the timing belt while i was at it... $330 for parts and $220 for labour to put it all in...
The mechanic let me keep the old pump.. its absolutley stuffed lol..

Big chunk taken out of the pump wheel

also a nice crack in the pump wheel all the way to the centre
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n82/tezza-jatz/12052011080Small.jpg

that shiny ring near the main hole for the shaft isnt supposed to be there... thats where the pump wheel ate nice big chunks out of it..

And this is just how far the bearing can flex off centre... lol

random question... how did u know it was stuffed? since the H doesnt have a temp gauge its always baffled me how u would know its overheating until an alarm (ie too late)

random question... how did u know it was stuffed? since the H doesnt have a temp gauge its always baffled me how u would know its overheating until an alarm (ie too late)

there had been a noise for about a week which i thought was the bearing in the A/C pump, as its not a necessary part i didnt think much of it.
how i found out it was the water pump happened while i was at work delivering chinese.. stopped at a house with my window open, smelled something like burning coolant, i figured it was just a bit hot cause i had been going a little bit quick cause i was slow on the previous few deliveries.. when i came back to the car there was a tiny bit of steam from near the drivers wheel... i was parked in a puddle and thought it was just water on the brakes but i was still weary because of the coolant smell...

the next day i took off the top of the timing belt cover to take a look and the belt felt a bit stretched, and i could tell the noise was coming from down near the water pump..

Welcome :)
thanks mate, been here for a little while now... welcome to you too :)
