This is the "concept" car they will show at the Paris Motorshow. The only thing concept like about it is the big wheels and blue light bulbs

Look it's no Astra but we ended up with something that is not too bad...you should gave seen some of the earlier design themes...I was very concerned! Overall not too bad but hopefully Opel will cone into our market with the Astra as a direct competitor to the bland VW Golf

The headlights looking blue and taillights design will never make it to production I reckon.. DRLs will get scraped aswell or will be an over priced optional extra. Also we won't have the grill above the badge on our design caus that's a chevvy thing

The chevvy badge actually fits in very well to the design I think but.. Might get mum to get one and chevvy it ahah

Might still keep the DRL's as they are becoming a requirement. That's the reason HSV have already started dabbling in the use of them ;)

Cause we never follow europes standards :p

It makes business sense to start conforming with euro design standards to open up your market.

I do hope we don't get them standard on all cars.. Will kill the coolness of them seeing it on a Kia and hyundia or daewoo in this case

The results of mashing an Impreza with a Lancer looks a lot better than I thought!

i doubt all new cars will end up having the same style lights...

look at the 2010 range of golf and polo, their "DRL" style is actually a normal globe in the inside of the headlight (excluding the 'R')

so i would assume the cars that dont want the "audi style" lights would still be able to conform with what VW are doing

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b308/RedRobin_05/Mk6%20GTI/Mk6_DRLs.jpg

in saying that, i reckon the cruze would be better off with the above style... coz that 'concept' one's DRLs look kinda cheap and tacky imo

Nice looking car, but still waiting for the Australian designed Cruze cos i reckon the Aussies would do a better job!!

And IMO, DRLs are a fail on most cars, there are very few cars that pull it off (Golf R, Merc C Class) and have not seen a good aftermarket one to date.

might look ok, but its still one ugly looking car.

what about it?? i don't like the drl's on it, im not a fan of drl's that follow the shape of the headlight.

the Golf R and Merc C class do it nicely, just a small straight strip on the lower bumper that follows the straight edges of the car design, somewhere where HSV epically failed.

Yeah didn't change as much as was first suggested. No official info on engines but the 1.4L Turbo would be a safe bet for one of the engines.

Yeah, it's not meant to be a performance engine it's to take place of the sluggish 1.8

Ohh my 1.8 :( ahah I've been told the 1.4t is even worse but. Good on fuel economy but

The 1.4T is better than the 1.8L. More torque, wider torque band.

Australia is/has already harmonized alot of ADRs to match EU requirements.

The DRLs on "normal" Golfs use a new type of bulb in the highbeam unit - its an H15 bulb - twin filament

Yeah, there was a paper tabled to Parliment a while back stating we should ditch ADR's and just adopt Euro guidelines

there's some pretty dodgy ADR's out there which make the official Euro guidelines illegal here, even though the Euro guidelines is so far ahead.... kids seats and ISOFIX for example. We had an ISOFIX seat for Alex when we were in Greece last month and it is so much more solidly attached than our seatbelt ones. Didnt use it though because our Safe'n'sound was a hell of a lot more comfortable than the cheap rental one we were given.

Agree, I too like the look of this Cruze version...

As for DRL's I too hated them at first, now I think they're a must have - cool looks and added driving safety, win win me thinks, AFAIK all new OEM vehicles produced post 2012/13 will be fitted with DRL's of one type or another as standard :)

Agree some OEM ones look chav and most aftermarkets definitely look chav, but I think I've found some that look pretty damn good and the build quality is as good as German OEM...now all I need to do is find a way of making a 'neat' modification and install of em on my vert :cornut:

I reckon it looks great - until you get to the C pillar. How impractical does that hatch look? And it's not as if they're sacrificing space for looks - it's just so bleh from the outside. Reminds me of a whale shark (http://www.google.com.au/images?hl=&q=whale+shark).

Just tweaked it a bit with the Holden grille and made it more production orientated on the front as opposed to show car.
