No drastic changes just refinement of the existing design... Interior looks a lot better in terms of material quality, will be interesting to see how it feels.

Mainly changed the fog/driving lights externally yeah? Think I prefer the ve series 1. Can't comment on the interior as can't remember what they're like

Yeah changed the front bar design, slightly changed the headlights and incorporated a 'lip' spoiler in the boot on the sedan.

hope the new interior is better before, the material was rock hard and felt cheap before.

as much as i hate to agree, youre right!!

the VE shape was looking dated and the series 2 update really isn't much of an upgrade exterior wise to make it look any more modern...

the infotainment system is probably the only notable, any power figure changes??

like Rory, can't wait for the E2 series to be released, hopefully HSV have realised how terrible the darth vader front looked, hardly ever see one on the road, surely it hurt sales!!

The FG had and still has the best interior by far... massive improvement over the BF

I couldn't believe the FG was a Ford... if I ever needed a large sedan, the Turbo 6 would be on top of my list.

I've driven the pre production models and the new infotainment system is awesome, the nav system warns of speed camera locations! Also as E85 is 105 octane there is a noticeable improvement in power/performance to serve it up to the new coyote V8 Falcons!

Was this part of another thread where we thought the VE series II had already been released a while back ??

Wasn't that the addition of the DRL LED's and all that other fugly styling update on the HSV's ??? ie. VE series II ??

So is this a series II or 2nd gen VE ??

I thought so...that's whats confused the f*#* out of me LOL :D

Hasn't it always been that the HSV model updates follow the mainstream GMH updates in the past ??

So what are they going to call the already existing HSV series II then ?? VE II take 2...

HSV branded it the E2, not VE2 ;)

HSV branded it the E2, not VE2 ;)

LOL that still causes confusion :D as anyone would think that still reads VE2 or should it be VE E2 ??? I've obviously missed the literature somewhere, but when that fugly VE HSV update came about a while ago I always thought it was based on the garden variety Commo series II update...

Curious to see what the next HSV is called then...E3 VE series II ??

I don't think they've had this kind of difference in their GMH/HSV Commo variants before...

The "E3", if they call it that as it's still undecided aparently, should be release later this month or early next. I'm down at their production line on the 16th where they are showing it so hopefully will be allowed to get some pics :)

I've been invited and been several times to the HSV model launches in the past and they've never allowed pics to be taken well before launch dates, you might get lucky though :D

E3 seems to make sense though :)

As for those updates, I do like what they've done with the interior subtle but nice and certainly good to have more kit right from the base models...

Yeah, i'll be at lang Lang on the 19th and I'm not even allowed to take my mobile out of the car as it has a camera in it, bloody strict!

All the ones I've attended have actually made people sign a piece of paper ie: if you reveal anything in anyway that's not allowed they'll get you good...

If you don't agree/sign the paper work you weren't allowed to continue the proceedings...

See how you go, put on your button camera equipped shirt :D

Holden did do an update last year, but they never labelled it as a 'series II'. There were virtually no cosmetic changes, just some mechanical changes like AFM and SIDI and the 3.0 Litre V6. This is the official series II VE.
The HSV update I would say will be known as E3 or E Series 3 as they've been registered as trade marks by HSV.

Thanks for the clarification Mat :)

Up until now I thought we already had the VE series II for some time, hence why this has thrown me off so much...

Yeah the media referred to the MY10 update as the series II in some articles, maybe that's led to the confusion.

The front bar looks heaps better than the series 1 and the interior looks good. Looks like the Thomo boys will be trading in there yellow BT-1's in for the S2 VE SSV.

They stole the Epica badge and grille and put on the Omega!

Hi Kurt, good to hear from you again. SMARTASS

technicalities :p

Vectracious
3rd September 2010, 10:23 PM
screen is still too low - they should have put it above the vents in the drivers line of sight.

Speaking about the E3 - I saw one on the Monash the other night - plates were E3HSV and it looked like a Clubby - silver and the front and rear had checkers all over it - front had LED's on it - rear looked very similar - was too dark so couldnt get any shots of it....

Nothing offensive here....move on !
All looks....well refined, as Matt wrote.

Do not think there will be any polarised public opinions as there were with E2,unless you are a Ford fan.

I thought FPV had decided not to go near the "GT HO" name

XR8 is still awaiting an engine. Apparently Ford only recently decided to keep it and they need to certify the normally aspirated 5L for it.
