wanna get back into computers and build a new one so bad hey.

mate just bought a new i7, air cooled to 4.2GHz stable.
its rediculous, benchmarked from 12,000 up to 24,000 pts.

$1750 later......

built one only a couple months back.

Core i7 2.8ghz
Asus Radeon 5850 voltage overclock model
asus MB with ddr3 4gig @1600, 12 usb ports on it :)
dual 500gb hdd, intend to raid
24" HD monitor
750 watt psu
and a cooler master case with about a zillion fans in it.

Now that is what I would call pure disk storage porn!
However, you get about the same speed with 12 disks or less. I guess it doesn't take more than 12 to max out the PCI-E bus and the RAID controllers. Good fun to watch anyway.

yeh i built mine close to 2 years ago and i kept waiting for new technology to come out. then i thought at this rate id never get anything new so i bit the bullet and went out and bought my parts

I'm still on 4.2ghz of dual core goodness - Still play any game out there on max settings.

Might upgrade next year.
