hi everyone, sometimes the traction controll light comes on while driving and stays there till i turn the car off and on again.....it started to happen really often..

also second problem is that theres alot of noise coming from the inside trim, for example when i go over speed bumps and stuff from the doors from the front theres a funny noise coming....and it really drives me mad... :out: cant drive without the radio on...

for the tc light i can't really help. I suggest trying to see if there is any code stored which should point you in the right direction as to whats wrong.

for rattles in the car. every car will develop them in time. try finding out exactly where the noise is coming from. If its just trimming thats loose, make sure its in place correctly and either fit new clips or place some foam inbetween the 2 objects that cause the noise. can be a very painful process but it is fixable in most cases.

also why is there steering wheel oil in the title?

oh, i thougt it might be that theres no oil left but i cant really check because its underneath the engine... :s

also with the noises, what i can tell you is that its not normal, because the noise comes from everywhere...from the doors from the back its just annoying..how do i fit new clips_ and where do i get them from??

and thanks for the reply (:

there is a large reservoir for the steering fluid on the firewall. just check to see that its filled up to the full mark. if its leaking i am sure you would notice some spots on the ground where you park your car.

as for the clips, not sure on the sizing that the vectra uses. best option is to take the trims off (will be some screws and then it just pulls off) and count how many there are. might be more than 1 size so just take them to an auto store and just replace any you break. you can get them from holden but they will charge around $2 each for them.
its pretty much a trial and error process to eliminate rattles.

couldnt find it on the firewall...

it is really hard to check the steering fluid...im lost. :s

Ahhh the rattles. I found the front trim its the tweeters (Front speakers) Don't think they've been secured very well. As for the back, no idea... Perhaps get your suspension (front and rear) checked if its rattling and bumping around.

As for the TC, If the traction control light is coming on whilst you are driving, and you havent selected to turn it off (CDXi?) then theres a fault with the TC. Get a diagnostic from a holden stealership or anyone with a tech 2 scanner.

Are you getting TC light on as well as car and spanner? Or is it TC and Steering light?

If the spanner comes on then you have some potentially major problems that need to be sorted quickly.
If the TC and Steering light come on, its most likely due to the CIM (Column integrated module) Which is the computer that sits behind the steering wheel housing the indicator, wiper stalks etc. This was a pretty common fault in a lot of the vectras and most were under warrenty. (Check your log book and see if anything is mentioned) You'll need to get a diagnostic to find if the CIM has failed eitherway.

Forgot to mention the obvious, disconnect the battery from the car for about 45-60 minutes and then see if that clears it. TC light coming on all the time could be as simple as a sensor failing or at worst, the whole TC/ABC module failed.

yes its a cdxi...

you cant turn the traction control of..i mean when i push the button the traction light stays on, when i push the button again the traction light goes away BUT when a wheel starts to spin the traction light starts flashing...

the steering wheel problem is started to happen often, the traction light comes on and stay on and theres a steering wheel symbol with a ! sign..

Sounds exactly like a failed CIM mate. Does the steering get very heavy as well? If it is, its because the CIM controls the power steering.

yes it does...it does get heavy... :s so what do i have to do

Go to a mechanic and get them to 100% rule on whats wrong with the car. And then see how much they want for parts. Call Autovaux and then see how much they charge for parts. Theres no simple fix unfortunatly.

hımm...would any mechanic no the problem or should look for a mechanic that knows about european cars..because im scared that they will stuff up some other stuff...

I always have a rule of thumb with the veccy C, go to a euro specialist.

have you checked to see if your fluid for your power steering is low at all?

the rattles you say you have i would put down to loose trims in the car.

vectra_

i really cant check if its low or not because i cant reach underneath the engine...
also for the rattles i dont no how to loosen them, theres nothing to loosen :s lol

you don't need to reach under the engine to check it.

just checked another forum.

if your car has any issues with the power steering it will display it on the dash and let you know there is a problem.
so leave your power steering alone unless an error is displayed.

as for the rattles, if you can deal with it for a bit longer i am happy to take a look for you when i get back to Melbourne mid-late September or i am sure one of the other guys down there if you ask them kindly will take a look and see if they can source the problem for you and give some advice.
with things like this its usually extremely hard to figure out what the problem is without actually seeing it in person.

no issues.

i suggest getting the codes read on your system to see why that issue with you traction control is happening. could be something simple like a bad connection or a failing component. without the code its hard to diagnose.

yep, ill take it to holden tmorrow...to see whats goıng on..

Power steering fluid on the C is a bitch to get to. Full stop.

Usually below the drivers head light. Mine is. Others apparently are further back for some reason.

Yes Shay I have topped up my Power steering fluid.

Oh and Vectra_ Not sure about that coles fluid. I just went to the stealership to make sure I got the correct stuff.

Heres what me and a mate used to get to the power steering fluid tank. Short PDF read but a bit of work for a job that is usually so easy in other cars.

http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/uploader/pics/pics1/EHPS.pdf

Just confirmed that only the 1.8L motor that europe got has the tank on the bulkhead next to the coolant. 3.2 is Always under the drivers light.
