Hey guys, I'm Brad :)
Im a n00b to Astras, this be my first car too. I get my P's in september.
I bought myself a 2000 Astra City Olympic... manual ofcourse, last Monday, love it so far :D

Not bad for $5000 and 100,000 KM, eh? ;)

Only one thing, the poor girl has an engine tick. It only ticks when its cold, and disappears after the temperature is past half way. I have read in alot of places that it could be one of the pumps, or crappy/wrong grade oil. I bought myself some Magnatec 10w/40 after reading the oil thread on here, but havent had a chance to do an oil change.
Any advice guys? she sounds so sick :( but she still goes hard, so the smile is still on my face :)

welcome
and very nice pickup mate

start by changing the oil, and go from there, if the tick remains, it could be the lifters or the oil pump, which (if you have a bit of a read through the site) you could get quite cheaply from a place called autovaux in the uk... http://www.autovaux.co.uk

best of luck, and enjoy the site

I forgot to mention in my first post, the timing belt is new, and so are the brakes and tyres

welcome to oa. i see your moulds have faded. i have this polish for mine that slowly restores the black in them. idk what its called but ill let you know if your interested. however if your interested in colour coding them dont apply any chemicals/polishes on the moulds

Thanks mate :) I do like the black, and I'm one step ahead (I think). I got some stuff called forever black, which does pretty much what you said, but haven't had time to use it yet

Today I went and started the car, when I revved, the speedo moved off 0 to about 5 KMH and then dropped back to 0, happens everytime I rev, any ideas anyone?
