Unlucky mate! But glad to see you bought a very similar car.
The main this is you're alright, being hit from behind, have you had yourself checked for whiplash?

ouch. look like it would of hurt a little bit.

16th May 2010, 01:51 PM
thanks guys.

yeah it did hurt like a bitch but luckily i looked in my rear view just before impact so had time to force my head into the headrest and scream to the other passengers to brace... they didnt quite figure out what was going on until it was too late.

all 3 other passengers had neck and back damage, x-rays and all that just showed it was soft tissue damage and shouldnt be a problem.

i on the other hand was totally fine other than a sore leg from smashing into the accelerator.

so now its just a matter of getting my new astras interior up to the standard of the old one

P.S. in regards to the insurance i was very pleasantly surprised, SGIO took 13 days and 3 phone calls to go from crash to getting my money which appears quite a feat considering they are STILL dealing with the result of that massive hailstorm back in march. strongly recommend them if you can switch without an increase in premiums.

im assuming you live in perth, heres the link to caresales in which all astras within 5-10k are and have less than 150k. they should be arranged in lowest price to highest price. you can futher reduce the amount of his by selecting your preferred transition. hope you find something

1. Rust on the front lip of the hood
2. Rust under the paint on the roof
3. Engine mount was ****ed
4. No coolant
5. 2 completely bald tires
6. One of the good tires was punctured
7. Spare was bald and flat
8. Couple of very small dents
9. Countless stone chips
10. Advertised as 2003 but its was a 2001 model
11. Back seats were filthy
12. Had a major service to change the belts at 130,000km when they should have been done at 120
13. Lied about the 130,000km service (2000km ago) being done at all as there was no coolant, oil needed changing, air filter looked like it was 50,000km old
14. Had absolutely no paperwork for the car what so ever, even the service done 2000km ago despite telling me on the phone they had it all
15. Lied about it being a company car

for $5500 for an 2001 car what did you expect? you get what you pay for - if you want an immaculate vectra (preferably get one with lower km!) you're going to have to pay.

btw of that list the only thing that really worries me is the lack of coolant - more importantly why it's been disappearing. needing new tyres is normal at that age, shagged engine mount is quite normal too, belts changed at 130000km instead of 120000km makes absolutely no difference providing the old one didn't snap - in fact it's good for you as the belts are newer!

my last car was a 2001 Astra CD, all electrics worked, 118,000km, 120,000km service had been done, always serviced at a reputable mechanic, 1 years rego, new tyres, PERFECT paint, not a single dent or scratch or stone chip... $6200

ran like a ****ing dream till the day i crashed it

cant afford a car that needs anything done to it :(

i would steer clear of high KM euro's..... Personally if i was in your situation id be grabbing a nice older Japanese or newer Hyundia/Kia car alot more reliable and lower servicing costs. Whats your budget?

Whats your budget?

due to the fact that i had to borrow the money from my parents to buy the car i have to buy a car they deem acceptable

their rules are:
newer than year 2000
less than 150,000km
full service history
no mechanical problems what so ever
manual
no korean cars
less than $6500
