Hey guys ive just installed some kyb struts into my TS astra and the nut that holds the bit at the top that holds the spring in makes the plate that secures the strut to the strut tower sit too high. Is there something i've done wrong. Holden dont make the half nut to hold the part im refering to anymore.
Thanks
Adam

but unless that plate is flush on the strut tower its not holding the strut in place properly

i've read that its due to the rubber strut top mount being worn
i haven't bothered to change mine as my strut brace fills the gap

i replaced my mounts when i changed the shocks so i don't think its due to that.

the upper spring seat (5) has a rubber notch that needs to be facing the proper way, so the angle is correct. Did you check its orientation before putting the lower rubber hat (4) back on?

everything in mine went in exactly 100% as the old one came out. It really does not bother me that the top hats sit in a little high. They are perfectly secured and safe to use.

when i fitted my lowered springs i didnt notice the notch until re-assembly but i did take notice of the spring mating with the mount. From memory the notch sits straight forward on one side and straight back on the other.. correct me if i wrong...
