redbook says

(estimate) $8000 - $9600 for 90,000 kms - 150,000 kms so surely 90,000 kms = $9600 and 150,000 kms = $8000 and as mines only just broke 60,000 kms it should be more than $9600 and it also has brand new brakes and tyres etc... or not ?

Have you searched for sales of similar vehicles?

I wouldn't expect much more than $8500.

id say around $8000, advertise for $8700 to start with but

adam_92: As mentioned by many others in many other threads, as mods don't add much value to a car, you'll get a lot more if you return your car back to stock, and sell the mods separately. There should be plenty of buyers here who are willing to assist :)

having recent sold an old beater on carsales, i say don't go by redbook prices. that's stone age stuff.
nowadays look at carsales.com.au, drive.com.au and look for cars of the same model up for private sale. find one with low km/better condition, find one with higher km/worse condition, and price yours inbetween

our old crapbox ended up going for $3000 when redbook insisted it was worth $2000-$2500 :)

however if you have mods - expect to sell it for significantly less than an unmodified example in the same condition. for good or bad noone wants to touch a modified car.

i could quite easily return it back to stock but i would probably have to leave the speakers in as i cut the parcel shelf for the 6x9's and modified the door cards for the 6.5'' splits and also the bit where the tweeters go was modified for the new ones and i thought sri alloy wheels would be more attractive and add value over the stock steelies

the alloy wheels may be more attractive and make it sell quicker, but they won't necessarily make it worth more.

As J said, mods don't add value.

heres somethign that I'm not sure has been touched on

sell the barina in the next year

knowing the value of the car at the moment really wont help you much, as you'll have to start again basically when it comes time to sell it

trade in realisticaly id imagine 2k-3k..... theyll give u the whole fact that they couldnt get much for it as people wont look for these in the 2nd hand market and how u can get a brand new barina for not much more blah blah blah.. private is the way to go by far!

sadly only like 7.5 - 8k

no one would spend more if you can get a brand new barina for a mere 13k

Redbook can serve you as a good or beginning guide only...

You can't neccessarily take that information as gospel though...

S/H car market(especially these days) is a 'buyers' market, meaning you go with the trend which is there for the particular type of car your trying to sell...

Even if you had a prestine car with only 5,000km on it, if no one wants it, you won't get a nickle for it, it's as simple as that !

As said use redbook as an initial guide, then also research what other similar cars like yours are advertised at and see whether or not they're been sold, that'll give you a good indication of the market demand for your vehicle...

If after a long period, it still hasn't asold, you may have to lower your ask price, or hang onto it...see how you go - all the best with it :)
