Looks really nice, with the exception of the AC vents and controls that you can't see in those pics.

But only 138hp? Still would have been better off with the Corsa D vxr sorry if they wanted to call it a "hot hatch".

Just my opinion...

New Aveo = new Barina. Aveo is what Barina is called in Europe and USA.

Like the new Cruze, the new Barina/Aveo will have nothing to do with old Daewoo models, except for being built in Korea

That's right. The Aveo will also be built in the United States.

Also does anyone notice the background of the first two photos? It's Melbourne! And looks like the rooftop carpark on top of one of the Holden HQ buildings...

I wonder why they photographed melbourne as the backdrop? I think the car is photoshopped tho, doesn't look real, maybe it's just a background with the Avero/Barina put in the picture. Nice car, I like the little touch of the stiches being the same colour as the colour of the car

i think if it didnt have the coloured strip with the badge across the grill it would be even more like the colt/lancer front

also is this just at concept stage or is that what it will be like ?

by the looks of it there will be a new barina shape/facelift for 2010, holden are clearing out there barinas now by giving out free sunroofs with all of them, which to me is a clearance sale or they just wanna get rid of their sunroof collection :p

I'd say that GM just has a whole lot of high res images on file and they just utilised one from the top of Holden HQ where they take a lot of their concept car photos.
The car is real, but probably just dropped into an existing background.

The RS model is a concept, but the 'base' Aveo has already been on the road as test mules for some months, so the body won't be much different to what you see on the RS.

If the car is real, I'm most intrigued as to how the headlights get that blue glow and more puzzling, how the flat front door handles work =/.

It's being enveiled at the upcoming Detroit Motorshow. It's a real car. Car companies don't release photoshops of their vehicles... The 'RS' version is a concept so it will have some concept features such as the mentioned door handles and the LED headlights.

Apparently Holden will be selling two "barinas" in this market

One will be aversion of the Spark called the Barina Spark - 1.2L engine
The other will be the car seen in the previous posts simply called Barina - most likely a 1.4L engine

That's an interesting idea by Batey. Wonder if using the Barina name on two different class vehicles will be effective.

I think the Chevrolet WTCC Ultra concept from 2006 gives us a hint at what to expect for the Cruze hatch Holden is currently working on.
The WTCC Ultra was designed at Holden in Melbourne and the clay model was produced here as well. So the fact that they showcased a Holden designed small hatch (Bigger than Aveo/Barina) and given that no other GM department is working on a small hatch at the moment, I think it will give us an insight as to what to expect for the Cruze hatch.
