A friend of mine asked me what can he get for $700 for a PC setup.

his priorities are 22 or 24" screen, the rest he doesnt have a clue about.

the PC will be used for internet, some video productions (home vids) and DVD burning\authoring.

definiately no PC Gaming.he has PS3 for that.

whats out there for $700 ??

if he is doing video production you will have to look at something equivalant to a gaming machine.

not full on gaming machine, just make sure it has a decent video card.

wat i would look at spcs wise

3ghz dual core
4gb ram
9800gt video card
500gb hard drive

thats just a rough idea mate. should be able to get that for around that price these days

For video editing I'd definitely grab a terabyte hard drive... especially as they're more economical then 500gb drives ;)

hmm

is a 22 or 24" in reach with a $700 budget for entire machine?

hmmm. when i said video production we are talking really really small movies and mostly nothing processing intense... i know for a fact he will most likely use it for Internet and ripping and burning MP3's and DivX's...

pretty much a "home all rounder" :)

but definiately 22" or 24" LCD as his sight is not the best :(

including screen OS plus video editing software, will be a hard task

OK, i have done some searching on local PC shop sites and came up with this;

e7500 intell cpu + all in one mobo + 2Gb ddr2 RAM + USB keyboard\mouse = $315
Win7 Home Premium OEM + 1.5TB HDD = $219
23" NOName LCd with HDMI = $195
Gigabyte GFX 4350 = $37
NOName Case + 400W PSU = $49

TOTAL: $815

i believe he will be able to stretch just that much.

what are you thoughts about this setup? all constructive comments an opinions are very welcome. everyone here is very helpful...thank You.

2gb ram is pretty slow, its what i had before my new laptop.
at the time it was quick enough, but after using 4gb ram the 2gb seems like a snail.

http://www.computermarkets.com/cm/

i got my machine from there, minus the monitor for $680.. was over a year ago, but had high specs for everything.. best part is, it's so easy to haggle with them.. my pc was advertised there at $900.. got $220 off..

might be worth a shot..

they have fairs on all over the place..
