Yes, but cars are really that expensive there. They have this "on the road permit" thingy which costs tens of thousands of sing dollars that is incorporated into the car's price.

Just for comparison, the price is about the price of a 2.0L Lancer

True..... but even a 192bhp from factory corsa would upset a lot of much bigger-engined cars ;)

and keep in mind in singapore they have a 10 year rule.. which means when you buy a car there you also have to buy a certificate of entitlement..

cars older than that rarley have another bought, which shows as the cars on their roads are all pretty darn recent models..

i guess it helps keep the emissions low..

Yeah.. AFAIK, only classics or collector's models can renew that certificate... all others are exported once the 10yrs is up...

AFAIK in Singapore you can't have a car that's older than 3 years old, so you need to constantly update and the Government provides some sort of help/subsidy to make it possible to buy a new car every 3 years or something along those lines...

So while the price may appear high, the people are able to get them easily enough...

Don't know exactly what the go is over there ATM but that's what I was told it was like a little while back...
