Remember to set your alarms for this date... car prices should, in general, be lower between now and the 1/1/2010.

Mazda have already started to reduce prices...

How can they already reduce their prices? Surely that just means they'll make more profit when it actually comes into effect =/... unless there's some creative bookkeeping which somehow allows the importers to bring in the cars now and pay for them on the 1st Jan 2010.

Great news anyway though :)

Yuppo Maestro :cornut:

Have you noticed in all the threads where I've mentioned I may be acquiring a new vehicle I've always said I'm leaving it till early 2010 at the earliest, this is one main reason why that is ... :)

I'm just hoping that prestige brands won't swallow this up by simply doing the 'customary' Jan.1 of new year price hikes...I'm eager to see the revised pricing of some BMW and Audi models :D

Have I got a surprise for you....

BMW have slashed $4000 from their prices....

As I see it the impending duty cut, oz dollar soaring and a relatively flat market will make quite a few bargains/deals start to show up before year's end.

Imagine the discounts on unsold 09 stock in Jan 2010!!!!

Realistically though it pretty much puts the price point on some models back where it was before the luxury car tax thresh hold increase not tha tlong ago...

Actually in this instance their the same ;). Vehicle Import Tax is being reduced from 10% to 5% on Jan 1st 2010 IIRC. It was reduced to 10% some years back.. again, iirc.
