Your opinion on engine oils

Just wondering guys and girls what oil your all using or prefer in your Astra T.

I've always used synthetics, but lately it's hard to find one that's 15W-50 or 60 they're all down to 0W or 5W something and have been told by many mechanics not to use them as they are to "thin" and to stick to 15W oils as this is what is specified.

What do you all think :?:

I'd tend to go with what the maker specifies rather than what people think.
I don't have a turbo so I'm quite happy to go with a cheaper semi synthetic and change it more often rather than a dearer oil and leave it in the car longer.
