I did the single choice thing on purpose. I wanted to know your NUMBER 1 car, and I wanted to know how many People would respond directly.

Having multiple cars would make it impossible to work out how many people are paying attention :cool:

Astra is my number 1 at the moment as the veccy is out with a water pump and the head is sitting off the calibra. The missus has the corsa.

OK then, based on that above I've voted for my Astra over my Calibra...10 years newer, 2 cars in one being a convertible and a total outlay (including purchase price and mods) of around 80k :blush: I had to rank it #1 out of my 2 Opels :yesnod:

Credit though to the calibra, arguably still the best looking Opel ever made...

Vectra's were always aimed at an older crowd, who are less likely to be on forums such as OA
astra's were aimed at the younger crowd with the SRI and SRI-T
and vectras are cheaper then astras on the market these days

Well I dunno

Astras were marketed as more of an average eco car, whilst Vectras were marketed as distinctly "Euro" (and thus marketed to hairdressers and others who perceived themselves to be "in"),

though Astras are superior in a sense that they break down less,

but then again that means that the Vectra was meant for those who could obviously pay more for repairs,

and since, according to Shaun Micallef, the meaning of life is "Having lots of money and being attractive";

I'd say the Vectra has it through undeniable logic.

Common now that's just a cheap shot. There's no way you can compare the cheap Chinese plasticky interior of a commonwhore with the premium interior you get in a Veccy

I don't get that because the veccys weren't even that much cheaper

(eg. a 4 pot GL was like 28k or something compared to a baseline commodore which was 30? - the V6 was more expensive and comparable to the S) - then the Vectra C came along; the cdxi was about $45,000, definately not cheap!)

The top spec Astra variant (turbo verts) is/was more expensive than the top spec Vectras ;)

However the 'normal' garden variety are cheaper than the 'normal' Vecce variants...

Someones already mentioned something about the demographic type that would be buying one or the other, definitely younger peeps, P platers etc. who can only afford a cheaper 1st car will often buy S/H Astras and are more likely to join forums...

Alot of folk out there with nice cars but have no interest or time for car forums - can't blame em :swg:

Price wise it destroys the VY in both features, looks and speed. Doesn't mean its a bad car though. After driving an S pack VY i'd take a ZC CDXI any day of the week.

(That CDXI is a rip off for the amount of KM's on it.)

Why surprisingly ??

Auto is a luxury feature and the hardware itself costs alot more than an equivalent manual trans, so makes total sense autos of any model always cost more than manuals...

Liking them or not is personal preference :)
