Just dropped off my car to get my muffler fitted, damn am I excited... but its so lonely, I'll only be getting it back tmrw arvo. Which is good cos I have a test tmrw and have to stay in all night to study... It'll all be done in time for our OpelAus cruise in Perth :) I'll get piccies up soon after
UPDATE: Got car back today, test went awesome (88%) :D, install was awesome too. Credit to the guys at Perth Exhaust Centre, they made it to fit using a bolt-on so can be easily removed myself whenever.
Muffler sounds awesome, just did a replacement muffler... no cat-back pipe...yet. Has a nice grumbling sound on idle which is easy on the ears, but once I floor it  well... you get the idea

I was supposed to drop it in on Friday morning and pick it up around lunch time, but I have class tomorrow so I said I'd leave it in the workshop overnight
Its a Sebring Twin tip muffler with 2" inlet and 2 x 3" square tip outlets

I have a question about the cat-back piping, does it have to be custom or is it pretty much standard?

sunny: if it's just a bolt-on and requires no welding, go for it yourself, I think you need some sort of a seal though
If the standard piping is already 2", what would the difference be with an after-market 2" one?

yep you'll need a flange gasket, all you have to do is undo two nuts and unhook two rubber bands, put the other one in place a do it up, shouldn't take longer than 30 mins.

cat-back is small, i think it is 1.75" - likewise with the 2.2L....... Actually, i lie, cat back is 2" on the 1.8 i think and 2.25 on the 2.2L - again - i think...
From there it hits the "main" muffler...... and comes out small... so you have to really get the centre muffler removed and just get a pipe straight through...

I've found out that the piping is 2" from the cat-back for the 1.8
Removing the centre resonator, my main concern is sound... would it be too loud without a resonator?
wishbone
24th September 2004, 08:02 AM
no.. the resonator is huge aye :P
hehe
nah.. mine is at 90db with the resonator removed cat back

Is that with a canon type muffler or box type muffler (am I making sense)?
The resonator is H-U-G-E :p
I'll see how it goes, might take it off further down the track

I'm pretty sure it's 1.75", the 2.2 wouldn't have smaller piping than the 1.8..... from the main resonator, it is 1.75 to the rear, but 2" in
