if you do a proper short shifter its worth it.

it actually goes in near the motor, not near the gear shifter

Or as one of the BTCC mechanics has quoted on another site...

"Regarding shortening gear throw, ive looked into this and there as no need to relace the mechanism on top of the box. Not for that price anyway.
Repositioning the ball pips (on the mechanism arms) can shorten it to how much you want http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif"

OK, just found how to do it on the VXR M32 box if you want to do it yourself without buying a kit, have a look here http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=56519

But LMF say - 'Only suitable for vehicles upto October 2005'.

Yeah, it says that on the mtech website too, something to do with clearances. There was another place that sells them for after 2005 but why spend that amount of cash if you can do it yourself, or get a mechanic to do it cheaper.

i really dont understand the point of this mod, unless your planning to race the car and need to share a few miliseconds of each lap.
