View Full Version : The mother of all gutter scratches

I basically shaved around 1/4 inch off both drivers side rims today, taking the island on Paramatta Rd Homebush today a little too close (if anyone was in the area and heard some really loud profanity, that was just me).

The first time I've gutter scratched by beloved VXRs, I'm clearly "gutted". How much average to get a wheel repaired?

Done the same thing to my VXR's it hurts more inside ay and you cant stop thinking about it! i got quotes between $80-$140 a wheel

I got it done at bob jane at Drummoyne (just because it was the closest bob jane to me) for i think it was around $85 a wheel and they did a really good job, took em like 2 weeks but becuase the paint was hard to match up so they ended up re-spraying them all.. but over all they did a good job and i cant complain!

sorry to hear mate..did the same on one of my previous cars. I got some silver and 2pak clear and fixed it myself...but mine was not too deep...could hardly see it once fixed.

:cornut:

At least your wheels can be fixed up to look reasonable again. I had potholes do damage to 2 of my rims. Council wont pay due to some stupid loophole.

I did a bit of research into this for a friend not too long ago and ended up being $150 a rim and they respray all rims to make sure the colours are all the same incase its slightly out.

yeah the place you wanna check out is Depulu Wheel Conditioning on the Gold Coast.

http://www.depuluwheels.com/ there's there website

I haven't personally used them, but it's where Bob Jane recommends people go and they've also had good reviews on other forums. They're happy to work with couriers as well which is always good.

Dunno man, not keen on that idea anymore. Black wheels were just a temporary phase, like a trend. They will die and polish/shadow chrome will rise again.

If anything, I may go a few shades darker than they are now.

LOL! Actually, the dirt disguises the damage if nothing.

I was turning onto Parra Rd and was checking out an A3 cabriolet at the lights and BANG, took the island too close. It sounded so bad that I thought it collected the sideskirt. Plus it could be my imagination but I think its thrown the front wheels out of alignment as I need to keep it turned slightly left when driving. Ever heard of that?

thats what i mean, the dirt disguises it, would be interesting to see it washed so we can see just how scratched it really is

wheel alignment mate, it does happen, just knocks it out a little

Shay
9th August 2009, 01:55 PM
hoe much does it veer left?
like is it really quick, cos im pretty sure most allignments allow it to veer left slightly, over a long distance.
so if you fall asleep at the wheel youre not going to kill someone coming in the opposite direction, just yourself on a tree

I'm booking them in to get repaired with a place called Mobile Alloy Wheel Repairs. They come out and do it on site for $150 per wheel.

fark man...i would just leave the wheel alone..get them properly refurbished when they all get really bad.... they could damage something even more expensive while fixing it.
