This is bloody amazing! nice article and pictures.

Sure is !!!

AFAIK they (Nissan) are the only other company besides Ferrari that 'hand assemble' the engines and then the mating of engine with the rest of the drive train on a mass produced model...

For those that don't know, the R35 also features aluminium/lithium alloy in its construction or make up, not even Ferrari use this aerospace material in a road vehicle yet...

The structural build quality and paint type/quality is up there with the best of them...

Ive found a strategy to make $160K...share the car with 3 other mates, or 3 guys from here who would like to share the car..thats $40k each...hahaha:D

R-Spec or Spec-V???

There is such a thing as the R-Spec, although boorny may be referring to the V-Spec, the R-Spec is another nik name of the so far unsurfaced factory Evo-Spec which is meant to be the ultimate road going track weapon ever made, lets wait and see if it ever births :)

There are also some aftermarket tuners selling R-Spec labelled upgrade/tuning packages...

Anyone with a GT-R who wants to go truly ballistic should opt for one of those rather than a factory V-Spec, they produce far more outstanding results and cost a hell of alot less too :)

As mentioned before, for all and everything to do with the R35, there's no better place than the GTRBLOG !

It's been going since day one of its release...:)

agree..hahaha!:p

How much do you think those babies will be worth in say 5 years?

Under 'normal' depreciation, I'd say they'd be worth around 50% of new car cost when 5 years old...

BUT it is an R35 GT-R and that changes things because it isn't exactly a 'normal' vehicle, so we can only guess ??

It will depend alot on what Nissan does in the future and many other factors...

If there's a new model by then, it'll definitely fall in value, if not it'll remain high...

If numbers sold remain small, values will remain high, if Nissan Aust. sell heaps, then that'll cause S/H values to drop more so than not...

Definitely a hard one to call on a car of this magnitude - will be interesting though, I can tell you that I too am very very keen and am keeping a close eye ATM on anything up for grabs, but so far none have come up, still too early maybe...

being japanese, i dont think reliability will be a big issue...just gota find a fully trained technician for service though..u dont want any grease monkeys learning on yours.

you wouldnt drive a car like that as a daily driver..so longevity would not be an issue either:p

Correct !

Edmunds have had one on constant test since they were 1st released in December 2007 just for that very reason - to see how they hold up long term and so far it has been fine !!!

As for long term servicing on this car - you'd be crazy to take it anywhere other than GT-R authorised Nissan service centres/dealers !

They have been especially trained and prepared to take care of this car by Nissan Japan !

Same story all over the World where the R35 is sold...

Only difference will be that after the 1st 3 years, you'll have to start paying for it...

True that :)

Our friend Gman has seen and driven them over in HK as well before they were released here :)

I too as would many others like to have one :)

I wouldn't use it as a daily driver though, because it'll always attract too much of the wrong kind of attention unfortunately - I'd just take it out on weekend bruises and kick some brand snob arses with it LOL

Probably his fathers or older brother who let him drive it so had to put on the P's ?? maybe ??

If not that's either one rich or spoilt kid LOL either way not sure about there in W.A but here in Vic. green P platers can't/not allowed to own/drive such a car and won't get the thing insured until at least over 25 if that !!! might have to be over 30 and even then they'll charge a huge premium...

Over here you'd have no chance of insurance, but it's perfectly legal for a P plater to drive.

Yep, he's the man 'really' responsible for the existance of the R35...think I mentioned that in another thread where his name came up :)

A little ironic that the chief of Renault is mainly resposible for bringing the World the R35, but I suppose if you acquire a manufacturing company that can produce such a product, then go for it...

VW did exactly the same thing when they acquired Bugatti and gave the World the phenominal Veyron...

I think this may be a myth.

Wheels or Motor Mag did a comparision with a 911T for a years runnin costs with a few track days thrown in.

The GT-R was about 10k and the 911T half that, bear in mind the 911 had twice the initial purchase price of a GTR.

Have the article somewhere just not at hand.Tyres were expensive as were fluids and brakes.

You could almost guarantee though that not all GT-R`s will see track days and service costs will be less.
If you have the means to afford a 180k purchase price and insurance, then running costs should not be an issue. ;)

Absolute rubbish !

You know this is the same kind of crap that comes up all the time from people who simply hate or fear anything that's better or superior to what they like...not talking about you nigelh, but whoever the dingbats were who make up crap like that to begin with...probably upset brand snob Porker owners who've paid nearly 400k for a range topping 911 and are scared to encounter an R35 on the road

The 'inspection interval' for the 'ceramic plasma' bore coating is at every 100,000km...

As for relining costs if and when required, Kabel has answered that one already - if your the type of person who buys a 150k or 350k vehicle and expect to never have to pay to keep it going when specialised items require it, somethings wrong with that person

nah...if they need to recoat it, then youll just see the car up for sale with around 100,000km on the clock...thats when Habib from Bankstown will buy it and put a fully sik exhaust and stereo in it and hang out at mcdonalds or go drag racing at wetherill park industrial estate.

what are plasma bores

In short, it's a ceramic based material that's applied to the lining of the bores to make them better in terms of less friction and heat build up and also makes them last longer when 'interfaced' with piston rings of certain material types...

The method by which it is applied is the 'plasma' part of the equation - hence plasma or plasma ceramic bores...that's a brief description.

Note, it's not something new either, but it is new for it to be used in this way on a mass produced vehicle...

My race car of over 20 years ago had plasma ceramic coated pistions ! done as an aftermarket procedure...

It's something alot of other hi end manufacturers will also do in time (amongst adopting or copying many other innovations of the R35) so lets see what all the knockers have to say when the same thing is part of their vehicles LOL...

Unfortunately this is alot of the current demographic of older imported models of the GT-R...

After expensive hi po cars age and devalue, you'll get all sorts of sods owning them...happens to all car types except those that stay out of reach price wise...

Ditto for any high end products.........expect higher running costs !
And having said that 100,000 kms may be six or seven years for some owners.

On another note.
