now my question is i have norton antivirus internet security 08 installed on my pc with XP Pro.

1.And all of a sudden it keeps throwing errors, coming up saying that my AV is turned off so i click fix and it just runs live update then its on again for a little bit.

2.Same thing with the phishing everytime i open the ineternet it turns off and get the warning.

3. i run a fair few custom scans on folders and a few files at a time. Now when i do it it will say its finished yet its scanned no files. a full system scan only takes a few seconds and only scans a few files.

Ive checked all settings and everything seems good. Ive tried reinstalling it and still the same thing. I have AV 08 and Interent Security 08 which has AV 08 built in. Either one installed does the same thing.

I uninstalled it and installed AVG Free 8.5 and it will scan all files and all files in the custom scan, and comes up with no viruses or anything like that.

Anyone with any ideas?

Try downloading PC Doctor from Google Pack (http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html?nopers%5DGoogle%20Pack) and run a full system scan

This may not be your problem.......
Are you able to update Norton, if not it may be a virus, there was one floating around that stopped your virus scan from updating and wouldn't let you download any other virus programs. Try a scan in "safe mode"
IF it is a virus and you can't get rid of it you can use "Highjack This"
and stop looking at porn.. lol.

On another note, I used to have Norton and it was a system hog so I scrapped it and just use Avast now, never had a problem since.

will try safe mode scan again, if no go then i will look at Avast.
