Love it :D See my thread in the members car section for a small review.

And...?

Honestly - underwhelming, but only because I think I had built it up too much in my head (and all the VW fanboys going on and on about it). Theres also about half a second between letting go of the brake and the car taking off - so you need to think about that at the traffic light Grand Prix.

Still gets a 1.7 tonne wagon to 100km/h f*cking quickly though!!! :yikes:

R36 is AWD and I think launch control makes the Haldex go into 50/50 (or whatever) torque split mode so it just goes (unlike when you nail it off the line normally and the fronts slip a bit before it sends drive to the rear.)

Electric shocks from a 12V system? What you doing bro?!? :p lol...

But really... you shouldn't be getting any shocks except maybe the occasional tingle from a speaker-level output of a decent amplifier... but even this is only if you have a really local earthing point relative to the point of contact...

Removed the 2.2 badge from the chrome strip on the hatch lid, god that has been getting on my nerves, wash and polish, then took her for a drive down the logan then ipswich motorways to show her off to all the commodore drivers who have no idea what they are missing out on, went to an all holden show and shine in Browns plains,,,,,,told the missus i was going to bunnings,,,lol, show and shine was sponsored by XXXX, visited the XXXX tent, sampled the merchandise, got in the poo when i got home for smelling like the XXXX tent. Had a great day, my lady is now resting in the garage, ready for her next assault on the unsuspecting GM market which is rapidly being Euro-ised,,,,,,,or Opelised.

Have a great weekend one and all.

lol, yep when the old shitta wont stop by itself, but you learn to just kick it off lol.
in 99 at the nats there was a stand in the pavillion, they had a little system that increased your spark, being 18 and stoopid i asked to feel the spark, hehe that was a buzz and a half!

but the best buzz ive ever felt was when i was playing around with a component tape deck and vid player id picked up from junk day, had only one power cord to test both of them, tested tape, discon wires, went to grab wires to hook up the vid player, and zzzzzzzap! lasted like 10secs but that 10 secs seemed like 30. its like having a swarm of bees buzzing through your arm. without stinging though.

Holy high pressures Batman!!!!! :yikes: Thats WAY too much IMHO...

Low profile or not they will probably start wearing in the centre of the tread mate. I used to run 215/35/18's and never ran over 42psi...Even then they were wear slightly unevenly...

Jerram
16th July 2009, 01:30 PM
50 psi will most likely balloon out the center of the tread which means

-less than best grip leading to increased wheelspin if you boot it as well as greater understeer in the wet
-increased wear with a higher chance of blowing out in later life
-harsh ride, more pressure on suspension

put air in my tyres 50psi all round

Agree with everyone else, 50psi is way over the top for your wheels there - hope you've dropped it down to say about 34-36psi max. :)

You'll definitely have a case of 'concavity' on your tyres and cause uneven wear on the tread centres...

You'll also be at a much higher risk of a blow out and leaking with such a high pumped up pressure...

I'm running hi performance 30series tyres on my 20" rims, these are the sort of tyre sizes/type that require the highest operating pressures and they're set at 40psi max. just to give you some idea for comparison :)

well the guy at bobjane said 50-52 psi.. 40ish seems too low (worried about the alloys)

hit a rock at 50 psi and I'd bank on coming close to popping a tyre

I have 17s on mine, profile 40 and running 32psi nitrogen all round for 12months + with no issues whatsoever, might increase them slightly tho

nuggz
16th July 2009, 03:28 PM

gmonkey
16th July 2009, 04:02 PM
are your tyres XL tyres darkirv and larger than the stocks? cause i mean no matter what psi you put your car upto chances are your load limits of your tyres will never handle what the stocks could, if your tyre distrubutor has put non XL tyres on your low profiles it will cause less life in your tyres, less traction and chance of pre-mature blow outs.

But if your tyres are XL tyres your PSI levels shouldnt differ from your stocks PSi levels as yes there is less diameter to your tyres, but the width contradicts this, making total Air Volume almost the same.

well the guy at bobjane said 50-52 psi.. 40ish seems too low (worried about the alloys)

40psi to LOW!!!! Seriously, WTF!!! :yikes:

Standard pressures on normal tyres are 28psi to 34psi!!!!!

Sports tyres 38psi to 40psi if you really want to have the sidewalls stiffened up for some reason...I run my current 215/40/17's at 38psi...My race tyres at 34psi front and 36psi rear...And yes, the 2 extra psi makes a HUGE difference....

Race tyres on things like Porsche GT3's, V8 Supercars etc...Between 25 and 35psi....

At 50psi, you're over inflating the tyre by about 20 to 25%!!!!!

They will likely last 5000kms before the centre of the tread starts to show serious signs of wear, they will overheat and weaken the carcass as well as having no give at all the first thing you hit with a sharpish edge wil slice right through them instead of it giving a little...

As said before, I ran 215/35/18's and they are one if not the lowest actual profile tyre available (actual sidewall dimension/thickness) and I never ran those over 42psi....

nuggz
16th July 2009, 05:21 PM

215/40/17's correct PSi is 32-36 on a Ts

But some people think that for each inch you go up from stock add 4-6 psi from the stock reccomended value.

hook it up to the doors?

nah, cbf, tried to, and it blew the interior light 3 times so i just hooked it straight to the battery with a switch next to my gear selector, along with my remote lead switch and foglight switch, i like to have them on while drivin, looks fully hectic...

(but seriously i do like the look even when im drivin, doesnt distract me at all)

Today I have had a 2 1/4" Sports Exhuast fitted, and I will be washing and waxing her again later... also pricing new tail lights, eyelids, and planning on how I can save for my body kit from poland... contemplating getting the kit done first so I can know how much room I have to lower her...

maybe altezzas... but not so sure... the ones on the market look like poop... no black chrome around that are worth paying money for on eBay... considering black smoked tail lights... they might do the job, either that or just bide my time and wait for some black chrome altezzas to come up again
