Calibra - The only car that will institutionalise you and send you broke in the mean time

:p

Impressive...but personally I prefer similar power V8 drag Calis to that set up - lots of them around :)

yum

traction much? still AWD?

oh wait:

The 4x4 system wont hold for this amount of power. It doesn't matter what you do, it will break.

haha - but still thats awesome!!

Hell no...ie: not with a 4 pot

As said, if I were to do it on my or any other Cali I'd go for a nice V8 install with RWD - lots of local experience around to do such a project (Taverna etc.) and it'd sound better than any 4 potter too and be much easier to obtain those power levels with a nice V8 :)

If someone were to seriously undertake it though, it would be a very costly project whichever way you did it...:)

impressive (and expensive!) piece of work
however i'm not so sure about using it for a street car...street cars need to turn corners, imagine trying to power out of a corner with that torque curve :yikes:

im sure if you found a full wrecked car with an LS1 you could do it for about 15

Hey good on him for achieving something most wouldn't bother with ,just means the first hot car that pulls up next to him at the lights when he does get that thing on the road will be sorry they underestimated the Calibra ....

To transform a Cali into a fully fledged, properly built, engineered and street legal vehicle with V8 and RWD conversion, you would need at least a 40-45k budget with about 8k of that used on a brand new crate LS1...

Even if you are able to score the V8 engine for nothing and do some of the works yourself, you would still need 10's of thousands (at least 20-30k) to complete the 100's of other requirements needed for such a build - 15k will only get you started, in fact 15k wouldn't even have been enough 20 years ago ! I know cause I built an XU-1 Torana like this in the mid-late 80's ;)

It's a nice thought - I hope someone from here does it :)
