Lately there has been a lot of building constructions in and around Sydney Olympic Park Right where my office building is...now i have confirmation that they are building for the up coming Sydney 500 V8 Supertouring.

I am lucky enough to have free front row tickets to watch this race from my second story window office :)

if you look at the map that i linked my office sits right above the straight between corners 9 and 10 i can also see straight down the home straight!! :D :D :D

ill post some real pics of my view later hehe

I saw footage of Koshie from Sunrise getting a ride with Jason Richards about a week ago. Might have been them?

I'm looking forward to the event. I'm disappointed to read (on websites elsewhere) about Sydney-siders boycotting the race because it's not at Eastern Creek anymore. I'm of the opinion that the majority of the Olympic Park precinct hasn't been used SINCE the Olympics so why not have a street race there? A precinct as big as that is most likely still being paid off by the tax payers anyway....and it's stagnant!! Until now.

I still think Eastern Creek is a good circuit, a shite load better than QLD raceway that's for sure, but I"m supporting Homebush all the same. Can't wait to get down there in a few weeks time.

A TRIVIAL PERSUIT QUESTION : Is anyone familiar with Homebush Park ?
inc where Homebush Abattoire', and Homebush Brick pits (where Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome was filmed in part), USED TO BE in the late 80's early 90's. ?

I used to be Art Director for Sony Music, which HAD its print division in CARTER STREET, Lidcombe / Homebush (the street names have since changed).

I have a feeling that one of the main straights for this weekends V8's is infact the above.

Anyone in Sydney, (or their fathers) know the answer..

Good action spot at Turn 2-3-4 Snotty, but I don't think it beats the action at Turn 8!!!:D Holy white man that was the place to be! I sat on the stand on the outside of the circuit and it shook every time a car hit the wall.

I'll post some pics tonight.

turn 8 would be my second choice if they had covers over the stands.
we had a nice breeze on sat and sunday while everybody else was roasting
although im still burnt from all the walking around

plus it was all about having a tv screen in front of you, these seats were perfect.
some friends had general admission and they said it was shit it was hard to find some where decent and have a screen to watch, but thats street circuits for you.

Yeah GA at a street cicuit sucks balls. We had a screen to our left that we could watch too but the lack of shade was awful. I think I heard TC say he'd endeavour to get more shade next year. Probably only along the pit straight though eh? That place looked to be about 1000 degrees!

Sorry I didn't have time to post pics last night and I'm going to Greenday tonight but I'll get 'em up there ASAP. It'd be nice if work I.T. allowed us to upload onto the web though.

Just for shits and giggles I drove out to Homebush to see what was left of the track. Almost the entire circuit is still there and is open road, so I went for a cruise around the track AT THE SPEED LIMIT. Turn 8 is a lot harder to navigate than it looked, no wonder it was action central!

yeah they said it would take about a week to get it back to normal out there. sounds fun but :)
