Hey folks many thanks for the warm welcome.

Still contemplating my purchase, couple of things wrong with it but its solid and a bit of tlc will see it right.

Biggest problem is timing belt has snapped on it and damn the prices for parts here is unbelievable. Back in Scotland i could probably get all the parts i need for about $350 tops, best price i've had here is $1500. So tell me all where is the best place to get your parts lol.

rings bout 220
both bearings about 120

u will most likely need a full valve kit or even head but.
have u stripped it yet?

Got a quote from Autovaux about 15 mins ago. looking favourable.

auzvectra,

Not stripped it yet, haven't bought it yet lol.

Is that piston rings your on about??

What bearings???

Don't mind stripping it out. Done a few belt repairs back in the UK in my time lol.

yeah piston rings.

big end and mains bearings.
well keep in mind u will (99% sure) have bent valves.
so there is more cost, and just hope they rnt bent enough to damage the head.
have seen valves bent over sideways, and smashed thru the head before (on a mitsy motor but)
now u could just do the head up, but if the motor is old prob best to to the whole things, although if the mains r alrite then u wont have to take the motor out ;).
the rings wear out pretty quick on them, especially the oil rings, think it's due to contamination from the egr and crank vent setup they have, and very small oil drain galleries from the topend to the sump.

Going by the list of receipts for work done the motor looks like its ben well taken care of.

Never heard that about the rings though. A bit more digging around the net me thinks :thumbs::thumbs:

Ended up not getting it.

Price was just too much to justify buying one with that type of damage to the engine then by the time i get it registered i could buy on registered and running lol.

Aw well on the lookout for something else now.

Well i have around 3.5k at the moment so would take me a few months to get the rest.

Putting my laptop and 360 on the bay over the next couple of days to source more funds.

Any pics and i'll have a long hard think about it...
