The other reason I went to Japan was to a drive day that a friend organised me to get a start for at Tsukuba Circuit for the new R35 GTR. We were allowed to take pictures of a show car they had set up in Tokyo for us before we took the Tsukuba Xpress for a 45 minute trip out to Tsukuba..Unfortunately, no camera's were allowed at the track :(...Yeah I got 4 laps to drive myself and 5 with a professional Japanese driver...Nice way to spend a day....

So this is all I could get with a small digital camera...

Fun..Lots and lots of FUN!!! I got 4 laps to drive myself and 5 with a professional Japanese driver...The standard R35 is fast...The Spec V is seriously fast!!!! Its marginally lighter, more powerful and has MUCH better brakes and suspension.

The big prob with the standard R35 is weight and brakes. The carbon/ceramics (once you get used to them, they grab a bit when cold) fix that, they never fade. The small weight drop and better suspension (along with other electronic changes etc etc) all make a big difference.

Apart from that, driving an R35 GTR Spec-V at Tsukuba in Japan for free couldn't ever be a bad thing... ;)

Does the Spec-V have more power ?

gman
13th April 2009, 10:29 PM
Yep, more power too...I couldn;t understand all the talk from the Nissan/Nisom guys, but I think it is all ECU tuning, exhaust and the Intercooler...But not100%..But it does have more power...

The dash has the electronic screen with all the gauges, G meters etc etc on it. The company that wrote Gran Turismo did the graphics (Poyphony I think it is).

They had a couple of PS3's set up for you to play with and get to know Tsukuba a little better ;)

Thanks for the heads up to this thread D145 :)

What a coincidence, I was just reading about the GT-R spec V in the current Motor mag today, it may have the same or similar power and torque numbers as the base model, but boy does it go a whole lot better  leaves just about everything else for dead - no surprises...

Will be interesting to see what it does at the Nurb. later this month, I have no doubts it'll beat the base models best run :)

And yes you Glen are a very fortunate man to get to experience all of this, wish I could be there too...enjoy every moment you lucky man :)
