Get ready to start your engines as BLOOD, SWEAT & GEARS revs up for Series Two.

Hosted by self-confessed rev-head Scott McGregor, BLOOD SWEAT & GEARS will set out to discover Australia’s best car and the driver behind its wheel.

After an extensive Australia-wide search for the country’s best car and driver combination, eight finalists will be chosen to compete in a series of challenges that will determine Australia’s best car and driver over eight weeks of challenges.

But when the cameras are rolling and the pressure is mounting, will the competitors shine…or will they bow out?

With cars representing the Aussie muscle car, the import market, the best of American horsepower and modified hatchbacks, the spectacle is played out in front of a massive crowd of car lovers at the annual Spring Nationals (the ‘Nats’) in Shepparton, Victoria.

Joining host Scott McGregor are the official BLOOD, SWEAT & GEARS judging team: respected motoring journalist Samantha Stevens and Ian Luff - Australia’s leading advanced driving instructor, race car driver and motivational speaker.

BLOOD SWEAT & GEARS is more than just a car show - as well as showcasing the latest innovations in street car modifications. It will be a clash of egos as eight of Australia’s most passionate car lovers will battle it out to be recognised as the best.

The eight contestants are:

1. Darryl Jhinku (NZ):
1995 Subrau WRX STi

2. Shane Soutter (SA):
1993 Nissan 180 SX

3. George Isaac (NSW):
2005 Ford FPV F6 Typhoon

4. Shane Kennett (QLD):
2002 Ford Laser SR2

5. Sash Ninovic (NSW):
1971 Ford Falcon XY GT

6. Murray Forman (NSW):
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

7. Brendan Findlay (VIC):
2005 Holden Monaro CV8

8. Sean Fardell (NSW):
1985 Holden Commodore VK HDT Group 3

notice how they categorize each car (muscle, import, etc).. then they get to the laser and say "and here we have an FWD turbo laser"

lol

I tried to understand why out of all the cars that would have auditioned for a part they chose a shitty Laser to represent FWD cars (lets face it - the Laser was a middle of the road car - did everything good but thats about it) - and then I heard some of the comments from the judges (especially the chick) and thought - they're just idiots - kind of explains a lot of things.

FAIL. AWD doesn’t make a car corner any better.

That WRX will pown all purely because it was built by Kiwi's!

poita

its bs having that car in there, and most of em actually
the car must be street legal and road registered.

how is a rally replica from NZ street legal and road registered here :p

ps. go the kiwi

really? i beg to differ.

having owned a awd cali t and a fwd cali, i can quite comfortably say the awd cornered better.

Its a very subjective topic..

AWD doesn't "Always" make a car handle better, but it certainly can help...

The STi's typically understeer and are more nose heavy than typical "Mr Habibi Hectic - The XTC Seller" that usually drives them with the flame paint job and fully sik stereo that weights more than the car originally did...(I can say that, I owned one and apologies to those that currently do....Vectracious (http://www.opelaus.com/forums/member.php?u=321) ;))

Where it get subjective is:

a) What one person think makes a car a good handling car;
b) cubic $$$$'s spent (as they say, theres no replacing extra cubes...)

I spent serious $$$$ to get my STi just to stop understeering at anytihing above normal road speed on the track...

Anti lift kits, Roll Centre adjusters, bushes, sway bars, shocks, springs, camber plates, Front LSD, Centre LSD, Rear LSD, torque splitters (DCCS) and the list goes on....

i bet you cry looking at you 545i M every day wishing it was an M5.

you said AWD does not handle better (didnt specify over what. fwd or rwd).

i say the awd cali handles better than the fwd cali

im sure most would say a GTR (awd) handles better thand the GTS-T(rwd)

alot of factors come into play as gman has noted above.

go be a sour sook somewhere else
