Looking to send my car to Sydney to get painted.
Yes I'm crazy I know.
I need it go from Bundy (obv) to Smithfield NSW.
Anyone used one in particular?
The car will be full of parts also, so need a reliable mob to do it.
And since its getting painted i want it to be looked after dam well.

I have a few quotes off the net already, ranging from $300-$1000
Are they the same as evrything else, you get what you pay for?

Ok since alot of us are getting parts/cars/headaches from over east, its sometimes difficult to get a service to help you with your project.

So heres some useful links that may help you... (stolen from the chook pen)

Here are a few options:

Postage Calculator -

to compare prices and for larger/heavier items -

Some say these prices are better than busfreight but all depends on what the package is.

$385 from melbourne to sydney..depot to depot. They charge heaps more if it's door-door.

Only takes 2 days.

Make sure to read the terms and conditions though, some do not offer insurance.

the cheap ones normally dont include insurance - and then if they do, you need to check to what value the insurance will cover.

why not send it to Brizzy - surely there is a decent painter here??? or is it a mate doing it cheap?

They won't allow you to transport items inside the car.

I did not disclose my ride height and they transported the Alfa from Perth to Brisbane without a drama. Highly recommend them, but again they will not allow you to transport additional items inside the vehicle.

oneightoo
25th March 2009, 10:01 AM

i estimate that at about 1300kms....

so at about 5km/h, and taking some breaks, it'll be about a 2 week drive..

what about hiring a car trailer and towing her yourself?

will have to look into it, but i imagine it wouldnt be cheap.
plus i dont think the mazda 6 would cope with the drive.
so would have to 'borrow' someone's 4wd also.

oneightoo
25th March 2009, 12:25 PM
