Because it wasn't sold here they should allow it.
Pretty sure you have to own it for 6 months overseas first though, or something along those lines

poita
22nd March 2009, 07:11 PM

So agree...

And how many times has this come up and cried about before :cryin: I get so pissed with GMH everytime I'm reminded of the TS coupe

Had they been brought into Aust. I have absolutely no shadow of a doubt there'd be one in my garage, especially the turbo variant, but even if they'd only brought in the N/A 2.2ltr, I still would've bought one !!!

I think he means GMH suck.....

As for one of the best looking small cars ever, don't forget about its predecessor, the Calibra, 20 years on and still a great looking vehicle ;)

Shay

agreed,
but IMO the calibra is more a sport coupe, rather than just a small car coupe.

and as someone said the VXR220 would def be in my garage, even tho i couldnt afford it... id find a way

It's a pretty sleek looking car... I can't help but prefer it over the 3dr hatchback. I'd love one as a RWD or AWD! :p

There's one that's been converted to RWD with an LS2 V8...

Do a search, there's a thread here on it and it's currently for sale - pity it's O/S :(

Yes, unfortunately when it comes to extreme car mods like that, you can never get away with it being cheap...

Even if you carry out alot or most of the work yourself, you'll save alot, but it'll still end up costing alot of money, I've done a full chassis, running gear and V8 conversion on an XU-1 Torana 2 decades ago and it end up costing me no less than 30-40k (that's 20 years ago !!!)

Still it's never about the money, if your a car enthusiast and 'bitten by the bug' it's something you simply can't help or avoid doing, as long as you understand it's money you may never see again, but doing it gives you priceless joy that's what it's all about in the end :smile2:

So where's the Torana now?!?

Unfortunately long gone :(

I sold or started selling it in pieces in 1992...

Reason is because that was the best way to do so, both to sell it and to re-coupe max. funds back...(at the time I'd made the decision to build my 1st house, so I needed max. funds) I sold the engine separately for 7.5k (it cost over 15k to build at the time) and sold the body as a rolling shell complete with engineer certified V8 registration for 4k and got about 11k for all the other bits n pieces, had I sold it intact, I would've probably only got 10k max for it and it would've been sitting there for sale for ages...but when your selling individual components, there's always a buyer :)

I've got lots of pics and have put some up on the forum here before, you may find them with a search, or I can always put some up again, just don't want to hijack the thread and off on a tangent :)

But I think it's an unwritten law or known fact amongst hopefully most car enthusiasts :)

End result was mega fun, it developed into a 9sec 1/4 mile blaster !!! :D the 3 years to build it wasn't fun though :( all worth it in the end and after all done and gone, feelings and memories from that experience are priceless - as said before that's what it's all about :smile2:
