Saw these girls fly over my place LOW today so thought i'd go down to the local air field to see if they'd landed there, which they had. So I took a few photos. Didn't have a chance to get the settings right, still set for the Motorshow. But still turned out alright. The planes are DHC-4 Caribou's.

Was at the airshow setting up today. As I was walking through the gate a pair of jets had just taken off and were about 200meters overhead.

Some really nice aircraft their this year. Will get some pics up later in the week.

Ahh the good ole De Havilland Canada Caribou.

It's in it's swansong this year; after decades of faithful service the -4 is finally being retired by the ADF.

2x2000HP engines = LOUD NOISES! Amazing sound. Sounds like 1000's of V8's revving at once.

i attended the amberely air show last year and was quite amazed with all the jets and helicopters and incredibly large aircrafts. Can't remember the name of it right now but they demonstrated a large carrier that can easily take-off, land and fly with just one engine running out of the 4.

If it was at amberley it was probably the C-17 Globemaster III. They use the same engines as the Boeing 757, on they've got 4 of them.

Nice !!!

I'm a biannual airshow visitor - have been since the 1st Melb. International in '95...

In '97 I was stuck exiting the car park for 4 hours !!! :mad2: I've learnt now to leave well before the end of the flight displays :wink1:

Look forward to some new hardware this year, it's been pretty much the usual suspects over the last 13 years...

...gold class all the way baby....

lol 99% of the action is in the air anyway, so gold class is a bit of a wank to me. GA all the way!

here are but some of many of mine.

The highlights for me..... the F-16, F-18E Super-Hornet, seeing the f-111 Fuel dump, the old Lockheed Constellation and the Rockwell B1-Lancer. It was like PORN !

Yep, GA for me too guys as I like to be as close as possible to it all - I usually find myself a spot about mid to 2/3rds runway (on the take off end) run up next to the wire...man ones ears are always at risk at these air shows, but just an awesome experience to witness 1st hand the thunder and power of jet propulsion and there was alot more on offer than just 35,000pounds worth :)

at one stage i was thinking....hmmm $150 for VIP parking, a seat and a hat, haha mind you a seat up there would have been great considering we were drenched in mud but apart from that its all part of the experience right. GA is better value.....now if you got to sit inside the aircraft or got special tours maybe thats different.
