First Car - 2001 Vectra Equipe

Hi guys,

Here's my first car, a 2001 Vectra Equipe. It's got EXTREMELY low k's for a car that's 8 years old, 1 owner, couldn't be happier with it. The car also has full log books and has been regularly serviced at a Holden service center. I've been doing some research though and it seems that Vectra's have some reliability issues, if anyone could give me some hints and tips on possible problem areas that would be great.

hey mate where abouts are you?

havent heard about any issues. what have you heard.

you'll get the usual timin belt/waterpump/exhaust go after a 100k or so but other than that there good.

yours the 2.2?

I'm in Brisbane. Yeah, it's a 2.2. I've heard about some problems with the engine idling, the dash instruments acting up, and the usual stuff about timing belts. The handbrake also makes a creaking noise when you get in the back seat, is that a normal issue?

not really an issue at all. just needs some grease, probably cos your loading youre shocks. the idling is only a sensor problem ie its been bumped or just not well looked after ie dirty.

how many ks it done?
look after it (im sure you will) and it will be fine.
you mechanically minded?

Yeah, I know my way around cars fairly well. The car had only done around 41,000 k's. I'll look after it very well (already cleaned it twice) and i'll be responsible. I'm not a hooligan :p

Yeah, called the insurance company and all that. It gets assessed on thursday. Anyone know a really good repair shop?
