im liking the car more and more, everything except the rear. i hate the fact that they have tiny rear windows.

Hmm,not bad, just something about the roofline at the rear doesnt look right.
And the gearstick looks like something out of an arcade machine..
Other than that it looks snazzy.

I couldn't agree with you more mate, even the back window is tiny :(
I bet there going to get alot of heat from the press and public about it having such a bad blind spot now with those petite windows :(

One more interesting detail: Opel will offer a special wind screen as an option. It reaches up to the B column, as you can see on this prototype:

There are some high resolution pictures of the pictures posted by GeeBee at this page (http://www.opel-mediainfo.at/scripts/depot3/opel-media/media/200408170001.txt). Click on the "Feinbild" Links.

The rear looks out of place, too small for my liking plus I think my head will be touching the roof

Especially this this pick, how are you supposed to rear park?

don't count your eggs too soon....

It just may be that the set-up may take the small windows into consideration..

Only way to know is to take it for a test drive.

BTW, that loooks like a "sri" version. You've got to be kidding if the econo version has those offerings!

I'd still buy it!

Yep, the pic that looks like it was taken outside the opel factory, you can notice the reverse parking sensors.

I'd still be able to see where I'm going though... :P

On second inspection, some of those pictures look chopped.

As I said, don't count your eggs people!

I beleive some options on the versions in Germany have voice activation for the information display and other items for the car.

Well, parking sensors are an option for the five door version, so i guess they will be available for the GTC as well.

It is indeed a bit strange at first when parking, since the back of the car is rather high. But you get used to it. :)
While driving it's not a problem (at least for the five door version), and i don't think it'll be much worse for the GTC.

Remove the middle rear headrest and it'll be easy to see. I reckon once a decent bodykit comes out for it, it'll look sweet as. But for some reason when i look at the front, i think of hyundai tibourn??? :?

WebWombat review:

clickety click (http://www.webwombat.com/motoring/news_reports/opel-astra-gtc.htm)

The range-topping turbocharged petrol model should be a real rip-snorter with 262Nm of torque on tap from 4000rpm,
I'm sorry, from 4000rpm is a slow running tap!

The G is gonna lay some smackdown on the H.

It looks like they've poured all their effort into refinements (which are phenomenal!) and forgot about the workhorse under the hood.

Opel's (http://www.opel.com) site shows some outstanding features... and now the Renault Laguna is not the only car to get a 5 star safety rating.

There are quite a few cars that have a 5 star rating by now (check out http://www.euroncap.com for details), but the Astra H hast the highest point rating in its class.

frankie, funny you should mention the triburon...

the triburon and the getz have been given almost world wide praise as the two cars that will take Hyunai out of the $2 pit. Furthermore, Hyundai and other asian manufacturers alike, have taken a lot of inspiration from European cars.

So putting two and two together, you can see where opel have come from by releasing the astra. It's more of a universal euro style. Proto golf conecpt photos look similar!

At the end of the day, you can say that you're driving a euro, euro styled car, not an asian, euro styled car.
