Anyone done that around here before?

Seen it done on other cars, worth a try every few years, more regularly if you have an oiled pod filter.

Various solutions you can use - specialised fluid, non chlorinated brake fluid, i've seen it done with carb cleaner. I'm guessing that a degreaser would probably do it as well.

Make sure you let it dry well before re-installing.

yes i do it every so often, great idea as you mentioned if you use an oiled air filter

my recommendation is to use a can of this:

carb/brake cleaner is *probably* ok too but it leaves a residue when it dries - if you want to do it properly use electrical contact cleaner

Yeah I heard that too, though people seem like it's the chlorine that leaves the residue hence non-chlorinated fluid.

where do you get that CRC stuff from?
