Just want to get a general consesus on white wall tyres. What do people think of them? Do you think it would suit my car? Is it a tacky look? etc etc...

Thanks Mat. Got a guy here who comes to your house and does it. Was thinking it might make the wheel look bigger??

Should I white wall my tyres?

On ya '55 Chevy or '34 Ford roadster, YES; on anything else, NO, IMO.

When the rims are dark like in the first pic i reckon they look really good, but having the white wall on a white rim might sorta do the same as having a black wall on a black rim and make the whole thing look like an amorphous blob. Just my 2c

White wall tyres reappearing are yet another retro trend from the past LOL...

Agree with Ian (Imay) on a vintage classic - yes, anything else no !

They look the part and right at home on some classics but IMHO look out of place and a bit wanky on new generation cars...

But as always, if you like them, go for them, each to his own...

P.S have you thought about stripped rims instead Gavin ???

These are also becoming more common now and suit newer cars more so as well, I've numerous examples of red stripped rims, I'm sure you can get any colour you want - give that a go with a chop pic and see what you think :)

Agreed...This could be considered a mortal sin (and not one worth doing)...
In the interests of self preservation, don't do it..

Whitewalls on an Astra...........

Sorry Gav but i'm with everyone else, does not suit it at all!!!

Seen some late model Commodores and Falcons pull it off, but a short wheelbase hatch, especially with white rims already won't work!!

Maybe concentrate on getting traction at those wheels before whitewalling them!!

The VE looks sweet with them pulls it of nicely.

But nah Gav not on your car with the white rims and blue paint. If you like it why not eh. Try it with some thick white chalk. That'll give you a good idea and it you dont like it, just spray some desgrease over it and hose away ;)
