After years of sledging Vauxhall's mid sizers, Jeremy Clarkson finally says something good about the Ellesmere mob.

Top Gear has awarded the Insignia the Executive Car of the Year gong for 2008.

See www.autoblog.com (http://www.autoblog.com) for some details and no doubt the Top Gear website as well.

You sure about this ??

Just watched a "current" TG episode (season 12) where the Insignia was mentioned as winning an award.... JC said, words to the effect, that they were driven round in an Insignia for 3 days before realising what it was. They thought it was a Renault. Hardly sounds like someone who "loves" the Insignia.

i havent watched the latest episode yet, so i assume you are talking about that one.

could you elaborate please, coz clarkson has made A LOT of remarks about how much he loves the insignia (and the whole current vauxhall range).

He did really say much, but yes he was negetive about it.

I'd write of his comments as for "entertainment" purposes

hes being very contradicting at the moment saying that people that used to buy BMW's wore very large watches, but if you watch an ep one or two eps before the latest you'll see that the watch he has on while test driving a car is about the size of a small plate...!!

dunno about you guys, but I'm not a fan of his writing.

Impressive figures though from the range topper, though still not as fast to 100 as the Calibra turbo. (may seem like an odd comparison but remember that the Cali was built on the Vectra A chassis)

i think you'll find his statements are more related to the financial crisis rather than the car.
